I find it hard to believe that they're going to find a free agent who doesn't even know our offense and didn't go through camp or practice with the Rams that are going to be better than Mike Thomas or McRoberts.

It's not necessarily about this year, it's probably nice to have a guy come in and get checked out thoroughly.
What it Sammy or Cooper get hurt, what if they both get hurt? What McVay wants might be different than other coaches so it's possible to find someone who you think can play.

Walker looks like a speed guy with limited production at UCLA . If It the right Walker. The Rams seem to be looking for the next TA replacement. Good idea as you can't teach speed. Draft profile on Rector had drops at Stanford with 4.42 speed. Link at the end. You never know and it keeps the evaluators in good practice form.

The Detroit Lions have continued with their cuts on Friday afternoon. The next player waived was wide receiver Michael Rector, according to ESPN’s Michael Rothstein.

Rector went undrafted in April’s 2017 draft. The Lions scooped him up along with fellow undrafted rookie receivers Noel Thomas and Dontez Ford. Back at Stanford, Rector racked up 104 catches, 1,681 yards and 15 receiving touchdowns in four years.

In Detroit, Rector was always a longshot to make the final 53-man roster. Though he played plenty in the final preseason game, he was always behind the likes of Jace Billingsley, Jared Abbrederis and even Dontez Ford on the depth chart. In four preseason appearances, Rector managed just three catches for 44 yards.

Rector is practice squad eligible, but considering the Lions’ depth at wide receiver, he’s unlikely to land a spot on the 10-man roster.

This is Snead, this is ALL Snead. He loves to find "hidden gems" as he calls them. Street free agents and rejects. He is very good at it too, just look at his record. Right now, and I'm not saying Snead will find him or not, there is a guy out there who could turn into a superstar with the right team and some coaching. He's out there. The difference between him entering the workforce or playing in front of cheering fans is simply someone finding him and giving him the chance.

The idea that a "Kurt Warner" type is somewhere out there isn't unique or fantastical, what's unique and fantastical is FINDING them. This is a "thing" for Snead and he's talked about it in the past.

It seems to me McVay/Snead are just constantly looking to improve the Team, I think that's all there is to it! We have a great corps of receivers!
A great core of receivers can turn to shit quickly with injuries. Good to keep a book on available players.
