The Los Angeles Rams were one of 30 NFL teams at Mississippi State’s Pro Day on Thursday that featured an influx of defensive standouts, including cornerback Taveze Calhoun.

Calhoun, a 6-foot-3, 189 pounder, impressed scouts in position drills, according to NFL.coms’ Gil Brandt. Calhoun is projected to go somewhere around the fourth or fifth round, and the Rams have to like his length at the position. He’s also a very humble kid. Cornerback Will Redmond also was there but he’s recovering from a torn ACL. A couple defensive linemen and a linebacker also took part at pro day.

It might be a long shot that the Rams can hit the lottery taking a cornerback in the later rounds, but it might be worth a shot. As was previously reported, the Rams are optimistic about their plans at corner. But certainly some depth and a little competition wouldn’t hurt.

The Rams are off to a quiet start in free agency, and at this rate it’s gonna take an almost perfect draft to turn their roster around.

Pro day workouts continue until April 6 leading up top the NFL draft.

Would be a great pick early day 3. I just wonder if Calhoun slips into Rd 2 (late) or Rd 3

6-3, 189 is slender. I can see certain teams liking his length, but concerned about his ability to contribute in run support, at least initially... That might keep him from going before day 3.

I dunno. Just spitballin'...

He would fill out pretty quickly. If the Rams take a corner early, they may be preparing to let Tru walk in free agency next year. Maybe they'd be happy with Apple, Calhoun, Gaines, Joyner for next year. They don't want to let Donald walk and he will get big money. Gurley and hopefully a QB. Paying top dollar for a corner may not be in the plans.

According to walterfootball.com, they met with him at the E/W game, so there's some interest in him.

With the high salary costs of good starting CB's & the pending once again next year @ this time free agency issues with two Ram CB's Trumaine Johnson & Marcus Roberson & the possibility of our Nickle-Back Lamarcus Joyner getting a chance to compete for the open deep safety post.....CB's would be a certain pick somewhere in this 2016 draft maybe even two.

Another very good reason not to trade away the farm of priceless highly valued draft picks for just one prospect.

Upside pick. Could eventually start. Maybe even make the somewhat costly Sensebaugh obsolete in a few years.
His contract wasn't that outrageous once we saw the details, that is unless he performs really well and earns the bonuses.

And if he did that, then he'd be worth it.
Exactly, that said if this kid is there in the 4th and we've addressed the offense I'd do cartwheels if we took him. We can never have enough people to rush the passer or cover the WRs.
