I know a lot of us were worried about our special teams play after pre season. But they seem to really step their game up even from last year.

Every single punt was a beautiful and perfect like always. But the thing I noticed the most was we had a guy down there immediately. The past couple seasons have been some of the best special teams play I've ever seen.

The other side is a slightly different story IMO. Of course Tavon will have his big returns. He almost took one to the house last week and was close to breaking one yesterday. One thing I did notice is when we get pinned deep, Austin is supposed to act like a blocker when letting the ball go into the end zone. Danny Amendola was one of the best I've seen at doing this and still is. I know he's small, but there's quite a few instances where he could knock a guys block off to get a touchback and he kinda just gets out of the way.

But, I digress. The point is the special teams has been amazing and was a big reason we held Seattle to 3 points.

If Tavon would just run and use his speed instead of standing still or high stepping, our punt return game might be impressive.

Cody Davis is almost always the first guy down there. Pretty fly for a white guy.

I've learned to never be too concerned about the Rams special teams play. John "Bones" Fassel is arguably the best coach on this staff.

Not really....We cut deep from this unit, so for obvious reasons, they're usually the most motivated to perform on the team...knowing any minute they could be replaced....except for Tavon....actually, I'm ready to see Mike Thomas on punts & kickoffs....watch a hungry guy run...

fastest guy on the defense...and appears to finally be playing like that....if you stalked my posts, I was a lil perturbed that he wasn't the first guy down on kickoffs last year....I've been very impresses...I actually thought it was Chase Reynolds last week...and caught a glimpse of #38....I thought it was #34 up until then...punts...kickoffs....no when he puts some pads on a RB or QB...Cody will be all good in my book...hell an int. will work too!

Yes Cody is finally being worked into the new GW defense & has done very well thus far. We were concerned when he went with basically 3 safeties after Brian Randolph went down to injury & CB Bryant failed to stick with a lack luster TC & pre season. Randolph just outplayed Bryant in TC. I sure hope Randolph makes a complete recovery from his torn ACL for the 2017 season.

Cody has been seen playing deep & playing up close to the LOS. But Cody is better covering the back end more than Mo Alexander does on those deep passes. Cody's speed comes in real handy.

Cody was clocked at 23.3 mph. Not sure what the conditions were but it was posted on the big screen during the last game, he was the fastest clocked on that list. I believe it was under game conditions. Not sure if that list was just this game or NFL wide, but either way dude is fast.

Tavon needs to run to the open side of the field. I was sitting behind the sea biscuits bench and had Tavon bolted my way during one of his returns late in the game he had nothing but open space. After watching it at home that open space was not as visible on tv. He seemed to be focused on a defender crossing from his left. I'm sure he was more concerned about getting cracked, can't blame him, but he never saw that open field because he paused for the defender, then cut back left, his head never turned to the right. I'm sure that happens a lot when looking at film though.

I'm pretty sure Tavon high stepping has little to do with him not returning a TD.

It was NFL wide... It had others from other teams behind him on the screen.

Thanks, that's what I thought but when I looked up the screen was changing. I should have gotten a picture of that, absolutely incredible!

It slows him down. NFL level players are way to fast for him to high step slowly looking for an opening. The close right in on him. Jason's best returns are when he decisively picks a direction to run and turns on the jets.

Which I agree with you I think in this case he knew that player already had the angle on him he was trying to set him up to make a mistake either way so he could turn on the jets in which that 49er played sound and didn't let him get jukes out of his shoes. I think your auto correct but Jason in there stupid auto correct! ‼️

Yeah this kindle does some dumb auto correcting. I don't recall Tavon's high scissor step ever faking out anyone in the NFL. That step on serves for showmanship IMO. It allows defenders to close in on him.

Sometimes watching Tavon hesitate at the point of the catch is frustrating to me. At the end of the day though...how many return TD's does he have? Including ones that were called back on insignificant penalties? There must be a method to his madness.
