It makes you wonder if the comparatively poor economics of the RB position will trickle down to the point where affects a young player's desire to play the position. Having a short lifespan and a lower average career income than kickers, will we start to see the athleticism of the position decline as players gravitate toward higher incomes and greater life expectancies of other positions?
Maybe but its not easy to just switch to playing another position. My best guess at a position switch that would work would be Safety but that doesn't get paid much either.

Crazy to see a tale of 2 RB.
Michel and Chubb, teammates at UGA picked 4 spots apart in the 2018 draft
Begs the question of who's career would you rather have had?
Chubb, career earnings 40+ mill and in prime spot for another pay day but plays for Cleveland
Or
Sony Michel, career earnings of 11 mill, washed out of the league at 28 with 2 Superbowl Rings

Freeman is the epitome of a backup RB. Decent size, decent speed, decent hands as a receiver but has never put it all together. That said how much is the scheme and OL to blame? Hard to say. But with Akers, Williams, and Evans ahead of him and yes I put Evans ahead of him, he's going to have to earn his chops on STs. Akers and Evans will carry the load and Williams looks to be a decent rotational RB.

Sorry to see Sony leave but he has nothing to prove anymore and with his rings he can retire on a decent career. He was a good RB and a solid teammate, what more can you say? Freeman comes in with no real expectations so no pressure on him. The Rams are 3 deep at RB which is solid going into the season.
