Fisher Stays Even-Keel in Face of 1-4 Start –PD
The last thing Jeff Fisher expected in mid-October was a 1-4 record in what was supposed to be a breakout year. But that’s what it is for his Rams, and worse yet, next up on the schedule are the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks.

Morning Ram-blings: Ranking non-playoff teams
By Nick Wagoner

http://espn.go.com/blog/st-louis-rams/post/_/id/12661/morning-ram-blings-ranking-non-playoff-teams

EARTH CITY, Mo. -- In a little bit of an offshoot to the usual Tuesday Power Rankings, Bill Barnwell over at Grantland.com took some time to rank the teams who wouldn't be in the playoffs if they started today.

At 1-4, the St. Louis Rams obviously aren't one of those teams in the playoff mix. And Barnwell considers them to be the third-worst team in the league based on his rankings, slotting the Rams at No. 30.

The actual ranking here doesn't matter all that much. As I discussed in the post about the Rams' move up in our normal Power Rankings, trying to differentiate between the worst teams in the league is something of a mind-numbing exercise. Of more interest here are some of the nuggets Barnwell offers on the current incarnation of the Rams.

One anecdote of note on the team's lack of pass rush productivity:

"To put this sack drought in context, if you believed that the true expectation for the Rams’ sack rate in 2014 was that 9.2 percent figure from a year ago, the chances they would have one sack or fewer on their opponent’s first 143 pass dropbacks are 66,828-to-1, or 0.001 percent."

So as hard as it is to imagine the Rams having only one sack in the first five games, the numbers would indicate that it might be even more shocking than you'd think.
