Morning Ram-blings: Chargers, Rams and L.A.

EARTH CITY, Mo. -- Most of the talk about the possibility of an NFL return to Los Angeles has centered on the St. Louis Rams and Oakland Raiders.

Sure, the San Diego Chargers are mentioned on occasion but usually more on the periphery compared to the Rams and Raiders. But the Chargers are in a similar boat and actually have more at stake in the whole deal, as Nick Canepa of the San Diego Union-Tribune wrote Tuesday.

Like the Rams and Raiders, the Chargers have the ability to move after the season. They've been on a year to year lease on their current stadium for years but there has been no pressing or imminent deal to build a new stadium. While the idea of the Chargers moving to Los Angeles has been discussed, they've also been brought up in terms of where they stand on another team moving into the Los Angeles market.

That's because 30 percent of San Diego's local revenue comes from the Los Angeles and Orange County markets. A different team infringing on that would be a big blow to the Chargers.

In a related story, the St. Louis Business Journal cites an Orange County Register report that Rams owner Stan Kroenke will meet with the Inglewood mayor, similar to reports that surfaced over the weekend.

As always, there are many moving parts to this whole deal but it's worth monitoring what's happening in places like San Diego and Oakland as the process goes on.
