Morning Ram-blings: Todd Gurley the top rookie for fantasy?
By Nick Wagoner

http://espn.go.com/blog/st-louis-ra...blings-todd-gurley-the-top-rookie-for-fantasy

EARTH CITY, Mo. -- Earlier this week, we took a look at what ESPN Fantasy analyst Christopher Harris thinks of the incoming rookie class and how he'd rank them from a fantasy perspective.

Harris had Todd Gurley ranked eighth on that list in no small part because of the questions about how quickly Gurley will be available. But not everyone views it that way.

Over at foxsports.com, two of their fantasy analysts did a rookie mock draft and Gurley didn't go eighth, he went first overall.

Here's the explanation for the pick from Adam Meyer:

"When a team drafts a running back and then trades away its previous starter, that's a good sign for the rookie. Gurley was drafted by St. Louis with the No. 10 overall selection. For a fantasy value, he couldn't land on a better team. In the past two seasons, a rookie running back led the Rams in rushing yards. However, Gurley is recovering from an ACL injury that he sustained in November. The likelihood of him being ready for the season-opener is slim, but Gurley's future in the NFL is promising."

There's little doubt that Gurley is going to have excellent fantasy value, probably sooner than later. It'll be interesting to see how early fantasy players are willing to roll the dice on Gurley without knowing how soon he'll be ready to play. Of course, we'll be offering regular updates in this space as we get closer to the season.
