Morning Ram-blings: Draft trends
By Nick Wagoner

http://espn.go.com/blog/st-louis-rams/post/_/id/7790/morning-ram-blings-draft-trends

EARTH CITY, Mo. -- With so much misdirection and subterfuge at this time of year when it comes to teams' plans for the NFL draft, it's often instructive to use a team, coach or general manager's history as a way of seeking out clues for how things might play out.

The St. Louis Rams have been as secretive as ever in the third year of the Jeff Fisher and Les Snead regime, making it hard to peg what they're thinking with the No. 2 overall choice, let alone at No. 13.

So ESPN NFL Insider Mike Sando did some looking into the past Insider to try to determine the future and added some additional legwork to try to get a feel for which way the Rams might be leaning.

In the piece, Sando discusses Fisher's lengthy history of not taking an offensive lineman in the first round. And by lengthy history, we mean to say he's never done it. But as Sando also points out, Fisher has never had much cause to do it and he wasn't always the main decision maker in his time at Tennessee.

For his part, Fisher has repeatedly said he's not averse to taking an offensive lineman in Round 1 and the fact that he hasn't is simply a matter of circumstance mores than some sort of anti-offensive lineman agenda.

We've discussed this topic in the past but there's no doubt that this year could serve as a true litmus test of Fisher's views on spending an early pick on a lineman. The Rams have the need, there are players available that would be good value -- will they pull the trigger?

I'm still not entirely convinced that they will.
