Just another reason why having “Los Angeles” in front of your name offers some good perks.

Consider this:

The NFL has a rule in place that allows all 32 teams to bring in up to 30 draft prospects. As part of that rule, teams can’t work out visiting prospects but instead can use those meetings to get a better feel for that player and whether his personality might be a good fit for the team.

But it doesn’t end there. Teams can also bring in an unlimited number of “local” draft prospects — “local” meaning that those prospects played ball near where the team is located.

For the Rams, that now likely means UCLA and USC. From Nick Wagoner at ESPN.com.

One of the quirks of the Rams’ move is determining whether they were considered local in St. Louis or Los Angeles for the purpose of those visits.

“We haven’t got that answered yet,” Fisher said. “In all likelihood, it will be no to St. Louis and yes to LA because that’s where we’re going to be located during this time. So yeah, it’s going to be one of the first times where, like many other clubs in the league, we take advantage of that. We can have a lot of good football players in for a workout. There’s a radius involved. We have a chance to see a lot of players, yes.”

The Rams — like every team I’m sure — are notorious for taking advantage of these unlimited visits. Wagoner reports that the Rams in 2014 drafted safety Maurice Alexander, who hails from Eureka, Missouri.

But despite the unlimited visits, it’s uncertain who the Rams will reach out for an invitation. UCLA’s top prospect includes linebacker Myles Jack, who likely will go in the top 10. And on top of that, the Rams don’t have a need at linebacker. USC’s Su’a Cravens, a hybrid safety/linebacker, could be someone to consider but reportedly is a better fit in a 4-3 scheme.

Either way, it doesn’t hurt checking out the local crop. And there’s plenty of them.

Well, there has to be some UDFA types they want to look at from those schools right?

Plus doesn't UCLA have a good WR, is it Payton? I would bring them all in.

UCLA has a WR/TE hybrid that is really intriguing. Guy is like 6'3" 234 or something like that.

He looked good to me. I'd def check him out.

Wasn't the best blocker, but blocking is a lot easier taught than catching.

There's a couple players on the Bruins...they have a really good looking LB...besides Jack....kinda raw, but athletic....and there should be a boat load of udfa wrs walking around...I still wonder why George Farmer from SC didn't get a look?

Didn't the Rams have a receiver by that name a couple of decades ago?

@Elmgrovegnome

think so.....this Farmer came outta SC and was 6'3, and ran a good 40 time....Think he's his son....He's on that program "undrafted" or something like that. It follows nfl hopefuls....

Injuries derailed his college career....they used him as a tailback a lil....

There was a media report saying the Rams had mutual interest with Zeurlien and renogiating a contract. I thought their plan was to bring in competition.

I never take what they say at face value Elm. Facts are he was untrustworthy in a very important range. 40-49 is crucial. Rams can say what they want, but they will bring in a starting level kicker because they cannot afford to use 40 yards as a decision point in games.

I Fairbairn is on the board in round 6 he is a target IMO.

Thomas Duarte im assuming your talking about? I love this dude (UCLA fan). He and Payton were UCLA's only reliable pass catchers for Rosen. If you like Jordan Reed then this is his clone. He didnt blow up the combine which means he may be there in the 3rd-4th round. Reliable hands, good route runner, but not much of a blocker. We already have our blocking TE's though so he would be a great pick for this offense. Theres not any highlight videos of just him but the Josh Rosen video features him ALOT. Hes #18 .

I've mentioned him a few times as a sleeper. I think @LACHAMP46 alluded to him, LB Aaron Wallace .

Duarte has really good hands, gets open, and has long speed. He's been pickin up a lot of buzz since the combine, teams think he'll be able to make the switch TE.

Kenny Clark is unblockable at the LOS. If he slipped to the 2nd, he'd be a steal.

Devin Fuller, a converted QB, tested very well at his Pro day, has some shake and good hands for a late round guy.

Fairbairn has to get a look, I believe he made the longest FG in college last year, over 60 yards, and is rated as a top 2 kicker in this draft.

Living down here in Fl. I watched a lot of that in the past move UF TE who plays in Washington...Jordan Reed I was an advocate for Reed to be drafted by the Rams. Reed has torched us as of late. I see that Duarte in this position. He would be a good 6th rd pick.

Rams would benefit greatly with having NT Kenny Clark on this team. He would be a good 3rd rd selection & might drop this far with this loaded DL'ers lineup in 2016. I would not use one of our 2nd rd selections on him.

I'd fall out of my chair if KC dropped that far, after the talent evaluators watch his film, but I'm all in for a bargain.:sneaky:

Duarte plays faster than he looks, and has some good quickness to him. I think he'd be pretty cheap, and develop nicely.

I know we don't need OL, but quite a few of the guys SPARQ tested well, had good combines, and have a lot of experience, since most of them started as Freshmen. Again, all later round talent to look at.

Rams may have a similar player stashed away in Zack Laskey who was a UDFA RB/FB/KR/PR jack of all trades. He does have some real soft hands, good blocker & some wiggle, toughness for a tweener. If Zack comes in TC cut & beefed up some lets say 6-2 240 area he could play a relief role on pass downs in the backfield. But your right on Duarte that he could go much higher to a team like NE Pats who has a QB who could utilize Duarte talents because Jordan Redd went much higher than predicted too.
