St. Louis Rams schedule analysis
By Nick Wagoner

http://espn.go.com/blog/nflnation/post/_/id/124892/st-louis-rams-schedule-analysis-5

Breakdown: Once again, the St. Louis Rams have what looks to be one of the most difficult schedules in the NFL. Using last year's results to come up with a strength of schedule, it technically ranks as the third most difficult slate in the league. Using past results as a future indicator is far from a sure thing in the NFL but in looking at the Rams' slate, it doesn't look like the league did them any favors. There's a chance for the Rams to get off to a hot start with three games that appear winnable before a bye week and the Rams would be well-served to take advantage. It only gets more difficult from there with a possible reprieve coming late in the season if the Rams can stay in the hunt.

Complaint department: Aside from having to finish the season in Seattle for a third consecutive year, there's one glaring complaint the Rams and their fans could have from this schedule that jumps out right away: A brutal eight-game stretch against teams with winning records in 2013 that comes after an early bye week. Smack in the middle is a three-game road swing at Kansas City, San Francisco and Arizona. It's not just that the Rams will be away from the Edward Jones Dome for so long so much as it is the caliber of opponent those three teams figure to be. Before that trio of contests, the Rams travel to Philadelphia and then go home but those games are against the 49ers and Seattle. Making matters worse, when it's over the Rams return home to face AFC champion Denver then travel to San Diego.

NFC West in Primetime: There's little doubt that the NFC West has emerged as the league's toughest division. For further proof, look no further than the Rams' pair of prime-time games and the amount of primetime games the four teams in the division earned in 2014. Even the fourth-place Rams got more than just the requisite Thursday night game with a "Monday Night Football" matchup against San Francisco in Week 6 to complement the Thursday night game against Arizona in Week 15. It's the second consecutive year the Rams are hosting a pair of prime-time games against division opponents. They'll hope to fare much better than the dreadful showing they had against the 49ers on Thursday night last year.

so I am sort of liking the Tampa game being a late game instead of an early game... wifey making travel plans already.

Think we might go to Washington in Dec also, depending on how the season is going I guess. Maybe a trip to STL somewhere in between for a guys weekend sounds great to me.

so I see myself at at least 1 game this year and at best 3 games, 3 cities

I look at this schedule and think 9-7 thinking optimistically. In reality I see probably 6-10. We got a tough schedule. Things happen though with injuries etc. and anything can happen. Maybe it is our turn to get lucky.

We clearly need to get off to a fast start if we're going to have a winning season this year.

With such a young team it's important to get some confidence early.

I don't believe youth will be a problem anymore with this team. We have consistantly had one of the toughest schedules for the last 3 or 4yrs now. We are battle tested alrdy as long as we get over the injury bug we will be fine. We have a top tier defense which didn't really show last year till the last few games becuase of the Tim Walton guy, we have our guy back now, and we have a dominant running game. Add a healthy Sam bradford in there and WE will make some NOISE!!

Because it's 4 out of the last 5 years now that a game that *could* have playoff implications favors the Hags.
They're also 24-8 at home since 2010, and the environment gets MUCH more hostile at the end of the year.

Plus, freak Seadderall.
Yeah, and when the Rams beat them in Seattle in week 17 it'll be that much more sweet. Write it down...it's going to happen.

At first glance, the Rams' 2014 schedule looks brutal
By Nate Latsch
FOX Sports Midwest

ST. LOUIS -- The 2014 NFL schedule won't make it easy for the St. Louis Rams to snap their streak of consecutive seasons without a playoff appearance.

The Rams' regular season schedule, which was released on Wednesday night, includes eight games against teams that made the playoffs last season and 10 against teams that finished with winning records.

That figures to be a difficult challenge for a St. Louis team that improved during Jeff Fisher's first two years as coach but hasn't made the playoffs since the 2004 season -- and hasn't had a winning record since 2003.

It's possible for the Rams to take that next step and qualify for a playoff berth, but they will have to fare better against the rugged NFC West Division, where they lost five of six games this past season.

The Rams, who went 7-9 a year ago, already had six games against the Super Bowl champion Seahawks (13-3), 49ers (12-4) and Cardinals (10-6) in the NFC West but now will also have to play the AFC West in 2014.

That means games against the AFC champion Broncos (13-3) as well as playoff teams in the in-state rival Chiefs (11-5) and the Chargers (9-7).

The Seahawks, Broncos and 49ers are three of the top four favorites to win the 2015 Super Bowl, according to the Bovada Online Sportsbook. The Seahawks are getting 6/1 odds, with the Broncos at 7/1 and the 49ers and Patriots each at 15/2.

The Rams are at 50/1 odds, if anyone's feeling lucky.

The 2014 schedule will include a pair of high-profile nationally televised games.

The Rams will host the 49ers on Monday Night Football in Week 6, on October 12, and then host the Cardinals in a Thursday night matchup in Week 15 (December 11).

St. Louis did catch a break with the first three weeks of the campaign. The Rams will open up at home against the Vikings (5-10-1), then go to Tampa Bay (4-12) before hosting the Cowboys (8-8).

Fisher's squad beat the Buccaneers 23-13 in Week 16 at Edward Jones Dome this past season with Kellen Clemens at quarterback but lost at Dallas 31-7 in Week 3 with Sam Bradford. The Rams lost to Minnesota 36-22 at home late in the 2012 season.

The Rams will need to take advantage of that early stretch of games if they are going to have a chance to end their two dubious streaks.

Rams have a shot at a good start
Posted by Mike Wilkening on April 23, 2014, 10:14 PM EDT

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/04/23/rams-have-a-shot-at-a-fast-start/

In our Week 17 analysis, we mentioned the need for the Rams and Cardinals to stand up to the NFC West’s power duo of Seattle and San Francisco if they are to compete for playoff spots.

Moreover, it would behoove the Rams and Cardinals to start well, too.

For the Rams, a 3-0 record headed into their Week Four bye isn’t an impossible dream. To begin their season, the Rams have home games against Minnesota (Week One) and Dallas (Week Three) and a road trip to Tampa Bay (Week Two). These opponents aren’t pushovers, but they are teams the Rams can defeat on their best. With games at Philadelphia (Week Five) and vs. Seattle and San Francisco (Weeks Six and Seven) right after the bye, St. Louis needs to sock away some early victories.

The Cardinals, like the Rams, get their bye in Week Four. And like St. Louis, Arizona has two home games before the break. The bad news? One of those home games is against San Francisco in Week Three. The Monday-night Week One opener vs. San Diego could be tricky. So could the trip to face the Giants in New Jersey six days later. Then, after the bye, the Cardinals travel to Denver in Week Five.

Many teams’ preseason plans have been ruined by less-than-ideal starts. It’s no different than a bad break in the Kentucky Derby. Sure, talented closers can win after early stumbles, but getting good position right off the bat is preferable.

Yeah, week 17 is freaking bullcrap again, but the overall I don't think it's that bad. We could start off the season very hot considering the teams we'll face. Then the bye b4 murders row.

Can we still enter the schedule guessing competition? LOL

i could see a 4 and 0 start. Then the sh1t gets real.
