Rams Week 13 snap counts: Sammy Watkins, Todd Gurley see big workloads

By: Cameron DaSilva | 7 hours ago

When Robert Woods went down with a shoulder injury, all eyes went to Sammy Watkins as the guy who needed to step up. Well, he’s done just that, and not just because he’s scored a touchdown in consecutive games.

He’s been a workhorse for the Rams the past two weeks, particularly on Sunday against the Cardinals. He was on the field for all 58 of the team’s offensive snaps, joining Jared Goff and the starting offensive line as the only players to play 100 percent of the snaps.

Todd Gurley wasn’t far behind, staying on the field for 95 percent of the plays, or 55 snaps. That’s an interesting trend considering Lance Dunbar returned from injury and seemed to be in line for some playing time. He didn’t play a single snap, however.

On defense, Trumaine Johnson was the iron man, playing all 64 snaps. Kayvon Webster and Lamarcus Joyner both played 98 percent of the snaps, followed by Mark Barron (89 percent), John Johnson (84 percent) and Aaron Donald (84 percent).

As you can see, Tanzel Smart’s snaps continue to dwindle. He was on the field for just 10 plays Sunday after being a starter at nose tackle early in the season. Morgan Fox and Ethan Westbrooks have taken his spot on the defensive line.

Some notes on week 12 to week 13 snap totals:

1. Tavon dipped from 35% to 19%.
2. Kupp jumped from 79% to 88%.
3. Watkins jumped from 83% to 100%.

Anybody evaluate how Hager did? The D seemed to shut the Cards down in the 2nd half, but then again they stopped running the ball....

Dude looked solid. Lot of the problems we had early on, to my eye at least, seemed to be the DL being moved in their gaps.

Why was Walker pulled? Seems like they could have used his weight on D when we got gashed on the ground
