Per NFL Network and Friend of Jeff Fisher, Mike Silver, the Rams have allowed all of their assistants to seek other employment. While the season was a disaster, it looks like the Rams will give the next coach a chance at picking their own guys. Sadly, this may be the end of Coach Fassel’s tenure with the Rams, ending a five year period of good special team plays including surprises, consistency, and positivity compared to the rest of the team.

Personally, I would love to see the next Rams coach keep Fassel and maybe even Waufle, the Rams DL coach who has watched Quinn, Brockers, Donald, Hayes, Easley, and others succeed under his tutelage. While the Rams are doing the right thing by allowing everyone to get outside opportunities if there is interest, one must wonder if the new coach would like to keep a couple of things in the building consistent from the previous regime.

Buckle up, it’ll be an interesting coaching search.

Fassel should have a new place of employment after his 1st interview...

If @flv puts odds in SportsBook for Fassel staying, I'm in on that.

He's had a track record of success and brings some continuity from one regime to the next.

If I'm the new HC, I want a coach or two to carry over to help me in those transition decisions with the roster.

Fassel knows the personalities, work ethics of players, etc. That first hand knowledge would be a huge help.

They are all most likely gone. Agree that Fassel and Wauffle should be retained.

No shocker here...too many penalties for Fassels crew. Same with the D-Line, although they do play well. thought I saw some quit in them. I'm waiting for the Snead announcement....Perhaps Demoff too....

It can limit the HC search pool if limitations are put on his ability to pick his own staff.

Everyone but Fassel and Waufle ought to go. Hopefully the FO understands that too.

Fassel has coached two kickers (Greg the Turbo Leg and Johnny) with bionic legs who are roommates and probably consume the same ambrosia (the food of the Olympian gods that provides them with eternal lives) from which they probably derive their uncanny leg strength. He inherited long snapper, Jake McQuiade from the previous coaching regime who hardly ever makes a mistake. He has the dangerous duo, Tavon and Benny, returning punts & kickoffs, respectively. He has well coverage teams that rarely yield sizable returns.

Johnny , in particular, has gotten so good at angling punts either out of bounds, inside the opponent's 20-yard line, and providing sufficient hang time for his coverage team to consistently arrive at pretty much the same time the opposing returner receives the punt, he is actually becoming legendary in his own time.

I would hate to have us lose such a quality coach to an opponent.

Yup. Although if there was an exception, I think Fassle would be just that. We all seem to forget how abysmal our special teams used to be.

I'd honestly lose my goddamn mind if we kept Boudreau. Fassell is the only coach I'd keep.

I would like to see Fassell, Waufle, and Denard Wilson back. Wilson has done well to develop tru jo, Joyner, Alexander, and Janoris when he was here. We just need to add talent to the secondary.
