Rochelle's development will be key to this. I'm not comfortable with only relying on Williams and Long when it comes to big beasts like Metcalf. Rochelle has enough size, length and speed to do it... just depends on how quickly he learns. And.. by all accounts, he's learning quickly.
He could be the difference between the Rams having a very, very good defensive backfield and a truly great one.
I'm guessing Jacob is a guy they have Rochelle defend in practice to prepare him for Metcalf. Big body and shifty. I get that Jacob hasn't proved shit yet but there aren't a lot of comparables on this team as far as I can see.

I also don't like Ramsey getting involved at the line of scrimmage a lot. Easy way to get rolled up on and get hurt.
Meh. I get it but play your best players in the best ways. He's virtually wasted having no one throw his way. Let him have fun and make the most impact. I'm sure they will still put him on top receivers.

Morris definitely has that positive demeanor that falls in line with Mcvays coaching style and culture. He also has lots of experience which is very important.

Its too early to crown him anything yet. He might have that creative edge who knows. He might be too slow to adapt In game or maybe better than slavery. Time will tell.

Just because they don't throw the ball his way doesn't mean he isn't impacting the game in a huge way. Just like having a deep threat impacts the offense in a big way even when the deep threat doesn't get the ball. I like Ramsey's disruptiveness. He is great, I like the results as well. I just don't want the DC to loose site of why we got him. To lock up the other teams best and take options away from the QB so he holds the ball and gets sacked or fumbles or intercepted. we had the #1 D with him doing mostly that. If we start giving up big plays because he is at the line a scrimmage and our #2 and 3 corners can't do the same job it could cost us games. Just do what worked and save the tweaks for if the league starts coming up with solutions. It wasn't broke so don't fix it.

For me, this was the first interview I've seen with Raheem Morris, and man, this guy is impressive. I can see why McVay was so high on him-- they seem to share some of the same qualities. Raheem seemed confident, upbeat, experienced, and obviously is passionate about what he does. I also like the way he speaks quickly and expresses a lot of information in a short amount of time. Seems like a great leader with excellent communication skills-- and a fun sense of humor to boot.

I can't say I know much about Morris from an X's and O's standpoint. But I was really worried about having a big letdown after Staley left, and I found this press conference very reassuring about the kind of leader we have in Raheem Morris.

Morris is smart, analytical, well spoken and charismatic. All of which is not quite the same as being a great defensive coordinator but it’s a really good start. Right up there with McVay but doesn’t torture his sentence structure with as much ferocity.

I understand the concern but Ramsey has is not the typical skinny play it safe cornerback . Some players are just built to be in a street fight and will always be available to play in the next game.

Ramsey is half DB and half LB. He's as special as they come and while he's in his prime, this guy needs to be put in position to be around the ball to make plays.

I'm with you that he primarily should be playing out on the island vs other teams best WR, but I'm okay with a mix of both in certain matchups throughout the season.

If I'm not mistaken wasn't Morris the DC for Tampa Bay when they beat the Rams in that NFC Championship game 13-6?

It's not bad to move him around to keep a OC and QB guessing where he is, but lets not get carried away with it. Sprinkle it in.

From Jalen interview & watching the game.I couldn’t believe how many plays he was involved in.I think he is playing DB/CB, but more so in coverage on short/underneath passes.
A question was if he could see the QB(s) looking for where he is.Jalen answered yes he could, but they never knew where he was going to be,because he basically didn’t know either. He also said not much last season.
Morris s& RAMsey as in the interview we’re working together for the first time & on the sideline going over there Microsoft Pads together breaking things down they saw & were taking about. He also said he is Green/Guy 2 in case Fuller misses a play on paper cut injury.
I like watching this defense play & was VERY disappointed about the TD run. AD99 has to make those plays. If not him then somebody else, but he missed that play & Mcvay & Morris can give him all the praise in The World it still doesn’t matter if The Rams lose.Truth is it didn’t matter & AD99 is the best.Just keeping him accountable & gets less of a Free Pass in my book.

Well - I’ll say this about Jalen RAMsey & this is from last season.
He lives to play another down.I’ve seen him let a couple TD’s & first downs go when he had a chance to make a play.I’ll give him that, because I believe he is smart enough to know when it is not smart to try to make a play.If he makes that great play, then at what expense ? He will go & correct & not worry about it.
No reason to get hurt & just like a relief pitcher or CB you have to live with the results.Players also have to turn the page as well. I think he has an excellent mind set & is a winner. At the end of a game or those 4th & shorts, you will find him being right there getting physical & involved.

So AD gets criticized for being in position but not making a tackle, but T Lewis gets praise for being in position but not making a sack? Weird. If bring in position but not actually doing anything is a praise-able action, at least be fair and even about it.

Right. But was there really a huge threat coming from their #1 receiver that our other DBs couldn't handle in that game?

You can say that he will be used the same way when we face Hopkins or Metcalf? I doubt it. He will be used as the best player in the best situation again. In the bears game, he would have been underutilized as a lock down corner. And frankly, that utilization could have cost us the game or at least made it a much closer game.
I don't worry at all about how he was used in that game. He had fun and deeply impacted the game. I look for the same in different ways so we don't waste talent because we want to pigeon hole a player.

I think that's also why we saw Floyd seemingly have little impact. The long developing pass play where he was going to be picking up the sack, wasn't going to be there in 2 seconds. Along with a potential bad wheel, you use him wisely, not for stats.

I think Ramsey's biggest value is shutting down receivers. I worry about 2 things when we use him in star. More contact, more chance for injury and that our 2nd and 3rd corners will not shut down anybody. I hope when we play a team with better receivers, he plays corner.
If it ain't broke don't fix it.
Every play, on any part of the football field is a chance for injury. Raheem told us, "he likes that. He wants that." If you stop putting him in the "star" position, how many big plays aren't made on the defensive side of the ball? Staley is one who started putting Ramsey in the "star" role and it helped make the Rams D #1. Why would we want to change that?
