Practice Squad rules

I thought he wasn't allowed to be signed to our PS because of the games we had him play? I'm not sure on PS eligibility though. I guess it changes if you go another team? Or maybe he just really didn't wanna be here.

This made me remember that I don't really know the practice squad rules. I was thinking that you can only have been active for "x" number of games before you lose eligibility for the practice squad. But if illinois Mike was picked up by the Washington practice squad that kind of spits in the face of my thoughts. I'm sure someone on this board that is smarter than me knows the answer!

I thought if a player was active for more than half their games in a season (9+) they weren't eligible for the PS. Someone else will have to tell us if Big Mike's injuries in his rookie year kept him inactive for more than 7 games. I think he was only active in 6 games last year.

Eligibility for the practice squad is limited to players who do not have an accrued season in the NFL, or were on an active list (53-man roster) for fewer than nine games during their only accrued seasons. Players that have served two seasons on a practice squad are eligible for a third season only if the team has at least 53 players on its active/inactive list for the duration of that player's employment.

A player will be considered to have served on a practice squad in a season if he were a member of a practice squad for three regular or postseason games during his first two practice squad seasons, or for one regular season or postseason game during a third practice squad season.
