Poll: America Wants The Patriots To Lose Super Bowl LI

FOXBORO (CBS) – It’s the New England Patriots against the world this Super Bowl Sunday.

A new report from Public Policy Polling found that 53 percent are pulling for the Atlanta Falcons to win in Houston. Only 27 percent of respondents said they are rooting for the Patriots.

The poll also says the Patriots are the most hated team in the league, which has been the case ever since DeflateGate. Two points behind the Patriots are the Cowboys, with 19 percent calling Dallas their least favorite team.

There’s good news and bad news when it comes to Tom Brady. The poll shows 22 percent say Brady is their favorite quarterback, beating Aaron Rodgers by 6 points. On the other hand, he’s also the top answer for least favorite quarterback, with 24 percent compared to Cam Newton’s 15 percent.

There are some numbers here that Patriots fans will like.

Commissioner Roger Goodell is still unpopular, with 37 percent having an unfavorable opinion of him compared to 22 percent who view him favorably.

And then there’s the one stat that matters to New England fans: 52 percent think the Patriots will win the Super Bowl, compared to 36 percent for the Falcons.

When that franchise sinks back into the morass after Brady retires it'll be fun to talk to their fans.

They will probably win Sunday.

II don't know, I think those hate numbers are pretty low. Maybe people were holding out for the "wish brady and belichick dead" option.

This reporter lol. It goes back much further bro, to the win vs the Raiders in the playoffs and their taping of the Rams' Super Bowl walkthrough. Faulk and Bruce even said NEW PLAYS that Martz had drawn up had Pats defenders sittin on top of the routes.

You either root against them or just quit caring about the Big game whenever they are in it. It takes away from the uniqueness of the single biggest game in pro sports. You could say the same about every sport. Viewership is down for the college playoffs. How many times do we need to see Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, esp on a Monday night? The Yankees WS run got old, even for some Yankee fans. I loved the first two but after that it wasn't as exciting.

The NFL strived for parity, and Bill has thrown a wrench into the entire plan, with he methods. That is why I am surprised Belicheck wasn't thrown out of the league after Spygate. He has cast doubt on the entire league. Any time they reach the SB people wonder if the cheated or how they will try to.

I will be rooting like hell for Atlanta, but I doubt they have the defense to keep the Patriots out of the end zone. Maybe we will see Quinn's old buddy Pete wearing a cheerleaders outfit, on the sideline to bring in some of that good mojo.

They'll lose and it probably won't be within seven points. Atlanta has been my pick since week four. (y)
