Didn't someone just post that they hadn't seen even one puff piece on Jones that would indicate the organizations belief in him?

Well, here it is.

What can they write in the off-season that would appease some folks.

"We believe in Barrett Jones" would have some folks thinking he was on the trade block. Same with "Barrett Jones is our starting Center." And that's not how Fish and Boo do things anyway.

Fish stuck with Wells for reasons that we may not all agree with, but now may understand...including the complicated line calls and wanting that consistency when the QB position wasn't so consistent.

AND... One of the good things about Nick Foles is that he's the heady type of QB who can manage that. As can Barrett Jones. But also remember that the QB-Center exchange takes time to get right. It's a detail that can cost a game if even messed up once. I never thought Jones not playing was a result of him being incapable. He actually did okay in the limited snaps he had. Visibly, the OL, didn't collapse when Jones was at Center.

I actually PREFER Jones to Wisniewski. I think Jones is much better in Pass Pro and about the same in Run blocking, but just doesn't have enough game tape. I'm pretty high on this young man, still, as I am on Barks.

We're a lot closer than folks think...which is a good thing.

nobody is hating on him. we read all these college stories when he got drafted. all we want to know now is will he be finally ready to play this season and can he play in the nfl.

.

He did a pretty nice job in the game against KC last year, I really thought that should have earned him time over either Wells or Joseph. My problem with the Oline is the way it has been managed. Putting Joseph out there game after game took valuable time away from someone else who could have been developing. That team was not winning a SB, why not build for the future???

Is that really all you need to know? When he got a chance, he played well. Wells had never done that ever in a Rams jersey! Robinson sat while that gob of blob Joseph started over him for weeks!

Why wasn't the #2 pick in the draft starting over Davin Joseph?
Ummmm maybe because he was a rookie and being prepped for LT??? And Wells did decent at points for us throughout his contract, last season was a disaster however.

Jake Long was our starting left tackle going into last year. I don't recall any point where Robinson was supposed to be anything other than a guard once the good guys got to camp. I could be wrong on that, but that is my recollection of the situation. While he worked at both spots, I think the plan was to try and ease him into the pool so to speak at left guard. I also don't recall ever thinking that Wells was anything less than a total disaster in his entire tenure with the Rams. Last year was his only healthy one and he stunk out loud.

Well I'll say your wrong because Greg Robinson was going to be The Rams LT of the future. The reason he struggled early was because he had to learn both positions. They keep him on the Left side for his foot work being the same as well.
Greg Robinson did not start game 1 !!! So where was he suppose to play ?? I know he was going to play LG,but only because of Jake Long.
If The Rams select Peat I'd actually like to see G Rob at LG.
**Going by the preseason there is no doubt Barret Jones is a NFL quality player. To what extent who knows,he has not played enough.
--I wish he did not comeback,he cost The Rams Casey Keenan(QB)7th rd pk.He played a few snaps,I think at guard.
**On paper who is The Rams starting center ?? Rhaney or Jones ??? There is some believe there.
-----What type of Back Surgery did Jones have. Why the back surgery(weights) ?? In the preseason he looked comfortable at both a center & guard. He did not over whelm my eyes, but did not look out of place either. Why all the hate for a 4th rd draft pick who was coming off a major injury, that end some players careers ??

This is one of my main criticisms of Fisher.

Barrett just finished doing my taxes for this year . His Back injury as I'm missing my bottom 3 discs from so many back surgeries and can tell you lifting heavy as all pro lineman MUST do to play the game is the last thing Barrett was doing. Yes I thought Jones played his few plays in Kansas City at center but I guess It was guard since I did'nt notice him in the game nor saved the film.

It would be the greatest secret since the bomb if the Rams were really counting on Jones to play 16 regular season games at starting center for us. I don't think the Rams would be doing the dance with Wis as I suspect they are by throwing out love letters with this years centers in the draft through a PR guy. Foles and Jones would be worse than the Titanic sinking on her first cruise. PLEASE NO!!! Lets hear about Jones carrying his own during spring training first. Although he did get me back more in taxes than I ever thought we could get. I've got his card if you need one. :D Coach Boo is now bringing in another of his past players . Its put up or shut up for this Mythical coach. I've seen nothing from him yet to clap over.:cry:

The issue I have with all of this is that we have no idea how he looks in practice. It could be one of those scenarios where he actually practices really well, and injuries and other players have more set up a red shirt type program for him.

Out of college, he seemed to be the real deal. I have trouble believing he isn't destined for something better, especially considering his o line coach.

That list reads like a who's who of quality NFL talent. I just have trouble reconciling that Barrett Jones is the lone pock mark on an otherwise stupid talented list.
