Maybe it was an unforeseeable issue ie. Attitude. Garcon doesn't come off as a football player with attitude issues. So if that was really the case, Garcon is indeed an upgrade.
Good point but either way Garcon or Britt need a legit WR playing across from them if we really want to UPGRADE the position

We have a few spare cards in our WR deck, just depends on how this staff utilizes them. If Spruce gets healthy he can be a threat "If"...

I mean... why wouldn't he consider us?

I'm sure he wants a ring before he retires, but in LA he would be a key contributor, get paid good money, play in a system he already knows and has thrived in, and live in Los Angeles.

I'd jump all over that.

I just LOL at these article titles.
Not too ambiguous there
If money is the same, I'd take Garcon over Britt any day

Ppl forget how good of a season Britt had last year given how awful our offense was
Who forgets that?
It was Britt's 8th season in the league and 3rd with the Rams. He wasn't exactly killing it before this season

I would go hard after Jeffery, pay the dude what he's worth and that one signing would go a long ways towards fixing this damn receiving corps. But that said I do like Garcon, he is a solid veteran who would come in and show our kid wideouts what's up from a mentor and role model perspective.

I am sure he's on the list of guys the Rams will be hot after. I just hope that Jeffery's also on that list.

Im so down with grabbing someone like Garcone and Boldin. Two savvy vets who have the experience and will to get the job down. I wouldn't be surprised if both would pass the 800 yard mark each. Maybe 6-7TD each.

Britt didn't have a good season, he got a few yards over a 1000 and quit on so many drives/routes. How many times did his drops cost the Offense a criticical drive or half ass route running cause an interception? So tired of stat jockeys looking at a stat and determining an outcome without watching the game and effort by someone. Fuck Britt and Quick.

Just like the Pats WR's give me the reliable guys that convert 3rd downs, put in effort, and hold into the ball.

Projections from spotrac market value:
Garcon @ 8.7 Million per year
Britt @ 6.7 Million per year

It's Britt's lack of concentration and effort at times is the only reason I would hesitate to resign him. He always seem to have a high YPC if not a lot of catches. IDK what we have in Cooper and Spruce. They could be more like Garcon. At this point I'm not sure what the Rams will do. Britt may be resigned. How about Britt and Garcon or even Britt and DeSean Jackson with a market value @7.6Million.

I doubt he gets a huge pay day. He's basically been pretty average with only 2 thousand yard seasons. He's a good route runner, knows the playbook, etc which is why we need him. He's not gonna come in here and destroy worlds
I could see a 3 year contract, not too much $$$$ But incentives!!

Garcon is going to be 31 before the season starts. Is that really what the Rams need? A guy entering the twilight of his career who generally can be expected to put up 70 catches for 750 yards and 4-5 TDs?

I mean, he could be a decent complementary guy and all, maybe a good locker room presence, but he strikes me as an older, slightly better version of Britt, production-wise.

I really think you'd be better suited chasing a younger guy like Robert Woods, or Kendall Wright, along with rolling the dice on a real game-breaker like Josh Gordon. If the Rams come away from FA with Woods and Gordon, I do think you'll see the middle of the field open up a lot for Gurley runs and Austin attacking the slot.

I'm in the Robert woods camp too

I'm with you, Merlin. Jeffery is a legit weapon.

That said, Garçon is interesting because he can help transition to the new offense.

Let's get both.

This ^ (in bold). The point of signing a guy like Garcon is not just for the numbers he can bring directly, but for the mentoring he can bring in showing young guys how to be a pro. We haven't had anyone on our roster like that on the offensive side of the ball in the last 5 years, if not longer.

I refer back to the signing of Finnegan, which many state was a FA disaster, but I respectfully disagree. He served as a leader for a young defense and by example helped infuse it with an attitude that it badly needed. Even though he didn't last with the Rams that long, the example he set for other young defenders we had far outlived his own tenure, and now this defense seems to breed leaders.

Garcon likely would not be a big factor if this team becomes a contender in 3 years, but his value is to help make Goff into a star. That is his value to this team and I would have no problem over-paying for that right now.

To help Goff and also a young WR corps. Sometimes you NEED that proven vet to help show others the way. I think either Garcon or DJax are a must, because they can help speed up the progress with implementing McVay's offensive scheme.

Also Kenny Stills. Only 25 yr' old and a proven deep threat. that is one thing that truly has been missing from this offense for quite some time is a guy who can actually stretch the field.
