Anyone have a list of who we have that is either restricted or not? Also, who do we keep? I think Sims is a FA but I'm not sure. He is one guy I really want to keep.

Nope, they locked Sims up for 2 years before this season started. Smart move too, I love that guy as a rotational DE!

Yes and I love his athletic ability. Did you see him run down Wilson for a sack yesterday? Last year he ran down Kap twice for sacks, one of which was a strip sack fumble in SF that the 9ers unfortunately recovered or would have given the Rams the game.

Having him and Hayes is invaluable. Did you see Hayes yesterday act like he was gonna throw the ball at one of them fools after that failed shovel pass? Loved it

Love Hayes too! And Langford has played much better than some people give him credit for. Brockers is still a baby (age wise) and will continue to get bigger and stronger too. Fisher knows DL play, that much I am sure of. Heck when you think how upset people where when they released Rivers, not to mention Selvie is a STARTER and playing well in Big D, the Rams have had an over flow of talent on the DL!

Yeah there is little coin to be saved here...probably Stewart goes, Williams too?

The Rams real cap savings will be in giving Finn a substantial hair cut, and by cutting Dahl and/or Wells.

My probably inaccurate read of things, but here's my guess on who will and won't be back.

Back: Barnes, Pointer, Brown, Smith, Clemens(Either as 3rd QB or backup), McNeil
Not back: Williams, Witherspoon, Giordano, Davis, Stewart, Dunbar(I think that either Ray Ray or someone from the draft will take his OLB job)
TBD: Saffold

Which just reinforces a point I made in a different thread about drafting Clowney. I don't see either of these guys getting much playing time if Clowney is on the roster. Subtract their weekly accomplishments from what Clowney would bring to the table and considering our other needs, would it be a net gain for the Rams? I don't see it. Even if he's all they say he is (and we all know I don't think he is).

Pretty much agree with this. Rams wont have much ability to do anything with bringing in FAs this offseason. It is very important in my opinion that Smith, Barnes are brought back. The O line situation is very close to taking a major step backward. The Rams are going to have to clear about $7M to cover their rookie cap. With the cap going up a little bit, cutting Finnigan and Dahl and if Langfords deal can be redone the Rams would have to use most of that money to resign their own guys and set money aside for the rookies.

I call BS on being up against the cap.

I think the Rams have a great person handling the cap and he knows how to move the money around EVERY offseason to be able to make the moves necessary. For the past 2 offseasons it was said the Rams are tight against the cap but NEXT offseason they have money to spend...each of those years they added some free agents and the following year its the same.

I recently heard Mark Lillebridge (NFL agent) pretty much say the same thing about teams up against the cap. Teams know how to move the money around and are never truly up against the cap ceiling.

I think we bring back Davis, he will be at least a camp arm and a practice squad guy.

Yeah fair enough. Just everything I read says the Rams are not going to redo Bradford, JL, Long or anyone else in a meaningful way. If the cap increases $3M and the Rams make some cuts (Finn, Dahl) can they create $14M or so? Im sure they can. A lot depends on how the contracts are structured, but, I just dont expect any big name FA this year.

Hard to argue with much of that. With Clemons, Smith and Barnes due modest raises and Stewart coming back for the same money or maybe slightly less these depth guys should be retained (in the case of Smith and Barnes they are restricted). I wouldnt mind seeing Giordano back as a depth/speacial teamer kind of vet. Saffold holds the cards in terms of Long being injured, but, Saffold again having to leave a game with a possible concussion last Sunday puts some leverage back in the Rams corner. I think the thought of signing someone like Byrd is fantasy, but, maybe I am wrong.

Here's my uneducated guess:

Rodger Saffold RT, T UFA 25 $1,460,000
Chris Williams G UFA 28 $1,376,154 - GONE, the sooner the better
Darian Stewart S UFA 25 $1,000,000 - Prob Gone
JoLonn Dunbar OLB, LB UFA 28 $650,000 - Gone
Kellen Clemens QB UFA 30 $585,000 - Stays
Shelley Smith G RFA 26 $575,000 - Stays , but only just
Matt Giordano S UFA 30 $555,000 - Gone
Mike McNeill TE RFA 25 $555,000 - Gone
Will Witherspoon OLB, LB UFA 33 $555,000 - Gone
Tim Barnes C ERFA 25 $480,000 - Stays
Austin Davis QB RFA 24 $282,352 - Gone
Quinton Pointer S RFA 25 $169,411 -Back for Camp prob gone after that
Sammy Brown DE RFA 23 $28,23 5 - Stays

Not so sure about veteran safety Darian Stewart here's how I see it. Currently Fisher has five on his master roster plus his favorite top reserve safety at the beginning of this season Matt Daniels that six. I just get a feeling that if given a chance Snead will target some of the more versatile prospects. Fisher like the versatile element more than most think. A added drafted rookie the return the promising 2nd season duo Davis & Daniels plus the two starting Mac duo.....leaves very little need to spend the valued cap $$ on aging non starting more costly Ram vets like Giordano & Stewart or like you said (fantasy) on a way over priced often injured UFA like Byrd.
