Missouri WR Dorial Green-Beckham was dismissed from the football team Friday.

Missouri wide receiver Dorial Green-Beckham has been kicked off the football team, the school announced Friday. His dismissal comes a day after he received news he would not be charged in a burglary investigation that followed his alleged unlawful entry into an apartment while searching for his girlfriend.

The decision to cut Green-Beckham, the No. 1 overall recruit nationally in the 2012 recruiting class, was made by Mizzou head coach Gary Pinkel and athletic director Mike Alden.

"This decision was made with the best interests of all involved in mind," Pinkel said in a prepared statement. "Dorial's priority going forward needs to be focusing on getting the help he needs. As we have all along, we will continue to do everything we can to assist Dorial and his family. We care deeply about Dorial and his well-being, but hopefully he can benefit from a fresh start."

Earlier Friday, Green-Beckham took blame for his actions with a statement released to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch:

"First and most importantly, I take responsibility for my conduct and my mistakes," Green-Beckham said. "Don't blame my girlfriend or her friends for anything. I am not looking for sympathy. I thank those who have given me concern. I have been young and dumb. I want to be better."

In his statement, Green-Beckham said he would be entering counseling.

"With help, I know I can be stronger emotionally and spiritually," he said. "My relationship with God, my family, friends, teammates and coaches are most important in my life, not football. It may not be possible to fix everything, but it won't be for not trying."

Details of Green-Beckham's entry into the apartment, however, have brought his character evenfurther into question. He allegedly forced his way into the residence and pushed a female acquaintance of his girlfriend's, who fell down "at least four stairs." His girlfriend later apologized for the incident via text message, but pleaded with the victim not to go forward with charges because of the damage that could be done to Green-Beckham's football career.

Former Missouri defensive end and draft prospect Michael Sam reacted to the dismissal via Twitter:

Green-Beckham's dismissal comes just two years into his college career. He had 883 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns as a sophomore last year and was regarded as one of the nation's most talented underclassmen at the position. He would be eligible for either the 2015 or 2016 NFL drafts.

So what round do people think he goes in next year's draft? Also, what does he do in the meantime?

I'd say, barring anymore legal problems, he'll transfer to a JUCO and play out the season. Get invited to the combine and measure out as the athletic freak that everyone knows he is. I'd say he'll still end up a 1st or 2nd rounder imo

He was a super talented player. Too bad he couldn't get away from the wrong crowds. I hope this is a wake-up call. I also hope this causes him to slide down draft boards and the Rams take him #32 overall (that's where we'll be picking after we win the Superbowl) and Fisher sets him straight. He seriously has Megatron like talent

More importantly Kudos to Pinkel for having the balls to make the statement. I recall Notre Dame keeping Michael Floyd after his third DUI. What message did that send to the rest of the team? It's okay to break rules if you are a star player that could help us vie for a National Championship? I bet there are a lot of schools that wouldnt cut Green just yet.

Yeah a coach with a DUI can't go soft on players

At my high school if don't keep a certain GPA or get in a fight, etc,... You are off the team.

It is a good way to teach discipline.

So you are saying Pinkel has a DUI or Kelly did? And either way what does that have to do with breaking team rules? Sounds like sour grapes because you are losing the best player on the team.

Pinkel does, and what I'm sayin' is a coach who has a DUI who comes under fire for it has to toe the line and not be soft on others or HIS commitment will look soft.
Don't even KNOW where the sour grapes stuff comes from ,I watch and enjoy Mizzou but to be emotional about this in any way is WAY beyond any fan for dis boy, kids a fuckup get him outa there

I misunderstood what you meant. I thought you were sarcastically saying that because Pinkel or Kelly had a DUI that they really shouldnt be casting stones at players that do the same thing. I just misread your post.

I should have known better because you are always pretty level headed on here.
