There are few things less desirable than being a Jacksonville Jaguars fan. Due to misguided loyalty and devotion, these poor saps tune in every Sunday to watch Blaine Gabbert (and now, Chad Henne), attempt, often in vain, to lead the team to victory. One thing that is less desirable than that? Not being a Jaguars fan and still having to watch them on Sunday.

That unfortunate latter circumstance is apparently understood very clearly by WKMG-TV, the local CBS affiliate in Orlando, Fla. Orlando is considered a secondary market for the Jaguars, and is therefore required by NFL policy to televise all of the team’s road games.

Which means that on a day when Peyton and Eli Manning are facing off against each other for potentially the last time, the good people of Orlando get to watch the Jaguars play Terrelle Pryor and the Oakland Raiders.

WKMG-TV could not let such an offense go unacknowledged. During the early game between the Miami Dolphins and the Indianapolis Colts, the station released the following statement in a scroll on the bottom of the screen:

“In accordance with NFL policy, MKMG must carry all Jacksonville Jaguars away games. We apologize for any inconvenience. An explanation of the NFL broadcast policies can be found on ClickOrlando.com”

And here on the station’s site is their schedule for the 2012-2013 season, where they yet again emphasize in bold print that they are required by the NFL to show all Jacksonville road games.

Seems the Jaguars — and their fans — can’t catch a break. They’ve made the playoffs just twice since 1999, they’re coming off of a franchise-low 2-14 season and their supporters watched them open the season with a rousing two points. And now, regional television stations are apologizing to people living just a couple of hours away from Jacksonville — many who probably are Jaguars fans — for having to even show their games. The only good news for the Jags? There’s nowhere else to go but up from here.

TV stations know better .... Never, Never, Never, Never, Never, Never .... pull the plug on a Raiders game.

The "Day in History" explained by the above link ... the networks pulled the plug on a Raiders game I was watching ... and it caused me to become a fan for life ... I'm still waiting to see the last 65 seconds of that game.
