Just heard on the local news here that the Patriots wont be playing on opening night as is customary.

The NFL has opted to go with the oldest match up rivalry Bears @ Packers to commemorate the NFL 100 year anniversary

If it's a 100 year anniversary, I wonder if they'll do like the 75th and have throwbacks featured across the league more often — including ref uniforms.

That sounds good on the surface but it could lead to weak teams beating up on other weak teams and having a team or more reaching the playoffs because of an easy schedule.

Conversely some very good teams may come up a bit short.
