Which team has the most dominant D-line in the NFL now?


Well hell, I copied the current results and it didn't post here. The Rams were winning at 54%. I don't know what in the hell the other 46% of people were thinking! The other choices are Eagles 21%, Jags 13%, and Vikes 12%.

I saw a poll and most picked the Eagles because of the depth they have. That’s the question how does the Rams depth stack up? How do Easley, Westbrooks, Fox, stack up against what Philly and Minny have?

But by the same token, last year was last year. Who's to say that any of those teams get similar results now or when games start later this year? I think it's a projection poll, not a trivia/historical fact poll.

But the spirit of this poll I think is to take a moment in Time. I think we win. Hands down. Who knows the rest of FA and the draft. Injuries. Etc.

Let's substitute "will" be the most dominant d-line in the NFL in 2018. I'd be very comfortable betting the house on it!

Rams didn't just add one guy, Suh, to their DL, they added two. Dom Easley, who after his 3rd ACL had reconstructive surgery, a new technique adding cadaver ligaments strengthening his knee. Rams will have 4 former 1st round picks alternating on the DL. Easley has been working out and says his knee feels stronger than before his first ACL injury.
Add Fox and Westbrooks and the Rams DL looks deep.

Intact doesn't mean they will perform the same. Some years players get worse, some years players seem to do great for no reason.

And again, if you're basing it off past production then by the same logic our line should be the best. Past production of our players indicates that we'll have the best D line, even if some of those players are new to the team.

You're trying to split hairs here, and that's cool. I would bank that it's rare for a unit that stays in tact (same players, same coaching staff, etc) to experience a significant drop in production over the course of a season, barring injuries of course. The fact is, our newly tooled defense hasn't played together. Philly, Minnesota, Jacksonville, etc. have.

Nobody wants to bring it up, but teams win on paper all the time, a la Philly back in 2011. I think it's kinda silly to compare a unit that hasn't seen the field together competitively to units that have already had success. But that's just my opinion.

Potentially, we have one of the most dominating defensive lines ever assembled. And if that's how the poll was written, I'll stand corrected. But at this time, our new defensive line hasn't dominated anything but headlines.
