NFL has no comment on Ezekiel Elliott video
Posted by Mike Florio on March 13, 2017

There’s a new video showing Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott pulling down a woman’s top during a St. Patrick’s Day parade. Given that Elliott remains under investigation for a separate potential violation of the Personal Conduct Policy, the incident could make that situation worse and/or subject him to other scrutiny.

For now, the NFL has no comment about the video.

It wouldn’t be the first time the NFL has no initial comment on a situation before eventually having something to say. Right out of the gates, the league often hasn’t decided on a course of action. Once it does, it often supplements “no comment” with comment.

Although plenty of Cowboys fans and some in the media are arguing that it’s a non-story, Elliott is the last NFL player who should be doing something like this, given the still-unresolved (by the league) domestic violence allegations from a year ago. And while St. Patrick’s Day parades and similar events (like Mardi Gras) routinely consist of women pulling their own tops down (or up), it’s slightly different to say the least when a man does the pulling for them.

Regardless of what fans or the media think, the NFL’s reaction to the video is all that will matter. And it’s hard to imagine the NFL shrugging and saying “boys will be boys” in response to Elliott’s behavior — especially in light of its reaction to the Justin Timberlake-Janet Jackson escapade from halftime of Super Bowl XXXVIII.

Lol Goodell has seen it all now, he is probably wondering if he is still running the NFL or a wild animal zoo...

Todd Marinovich pleads guilty to drug charges and naked trespassing

Former Raiders quarterback Todd Marinovich pleaded guilty to a collection of misdemeanor charges, after his latest drug-related arrest found him naked in a stranger’s backyard.

According to Kelly Puente of the Orange County Register, Marinovich pleaded guilty to five counts including misdemeanor public nudity, drug and trespassing charges.

He was sentenced to serve 90 days in jail, but that was suspended pending the completion of a six-month stint in a rehab facility and three years of probation.

He was arrested last August after police got calls about a naked man hiking, and he was found in a residential yard with a bag containing methamphetamine, marijuana, syringes, a marijuana pipe and his wallet.

His lawyer said he decided to check into the rehab facility after the arrest, and has continued to test clean since the arrest last summer.

Marinovich’s NFL career came unraveled because of his drug issues, which he has continued to battle.

I live in OC.....If someone found me naked, with meth in my possession, in someones backyard....if I lived after being discovered (pretty good chance I'd be shot)....I'd be locked up for YEARS.

Charges against Darrelle Revis dismissed
Posted by Josh Alper on March 15, 2017

Former Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis is in Pittsburgh for a court hearing on Wednesday related to the four felony charges he faces as a result of an altercation on a Pittsburgh street last month.

He no longer faces them. Aditi Kinkhabwala of NFL Media reports that a judge has dismissed all of the charges against Revis. The testimony of Revis’ friend Rashawn Bolton appears to have led to the decision.

Revis objected to being filmed with a phone by one of the two men who wound up unconscious after being punched in the face. Neither they nor a witness identified Revis as the man who punched them as there was another unidentified man on the scene.

At Wednesday’s court hearing, Bolton identified himself as both that person and the person who threw the punches. Kinkhabwala reports that Bolton said that he pulled the two men off of Revis and then punched them. He also said his voice is the one heard in a video showing the two men knocked out while someone takes credit for doing it on the soundtrack.

Revis is a free agent after being released by the Jets. Any team that was worried about his availability due to ongoing legal trouble no longer has that as a concern, although it remains unknown what kind of market exists for Revis.

Former Jags WR arrested for hitting woman during kids birthday party

Former Jaguars receiver Mike Thomas was arrested on domestic violence charges, after allegedly attacking his fiancee while a children’s birthday party was going on downstairs.

According to WSB, Thomas was charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and child abuse in the third degree.

The altercation took place upstairs in his fiancee’s Sandy Springs home, while the six young girls were downstairs doing whatever six young girls do at a birthday party. But according to the Sandy Springs police department, Thomas allegedly hit the woman with an open and closed fist and choking her.

“They could hear loud banging, screaming. They could hear a female, you know, crying for help,” Sgt. Sam Worsham, of the Sandy Springs Police Department said. “They could hear the altercation going on upstairs.”

Thomas disputed that version of events, saying he never hit her or choked her, and that the gun in question was in his briefcase, and that he had a concealed carry permit. He remains in Fulton County Jail without bond.

A 2009 fourth-round pick out of Arizona, Thomas played parts of four seasons with the Jaguars. He was traded to the Lions for a fifth-round pick in 2012 but was cut the following preseason, and bounced through stops in Arizona and Houston without playing again.

Felony charges against Adam Jones dropped
Posted by Darin Gantt on March 22, 2017

Bengals cornerback Adam Jones isn’t out of the woods yet, but the concentration of trees in this particular forest is less dense now.

According to Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com, felony charges of harassment with a bodily substance against Jones have been dropped.

That’s a long-winded way of saying spitting on a jailhouse nurse, which Jones was arrested for in January.

He still has pending misdemeanor charges of assault, disorderly conduct and obstructing official business, and will plead not guilty to those charges according to his attorney.

The Bengals have apologized to fans on his behalf, but are taking their time making a decision on what to do about it, leaving any possible punishments in the hands of the league and the local prosecutors.

Trent Richardson’s ex-girlfriend accused of purposely crashing into him
Posted by Michael David Smith on March 22, 2017

Last month former draft bust Trent Richardson was accused of domestic violence against his ex-girlfriend, who is the mother of his four children. Now there’s been another incident between the two, in which she is the accused perpetrator and he is the alleged victim.

Sevina Fatu, Richardson’s ex-girlfriend, was arrested Monday night and charged with two counts of aggravated battery and one count of criminal mischief for for purposely crashing her SUV into a car that Richardson was riding in, according to AL.com.

Richardson told police that Fatu told him, “If I can’t have you, no one can.”

In February Richardson was charged with third-degree domestic violence in connection with an incident involving Fatu. Richardson claims she attacked him and he only touched her to push her away.

Richardson was the third overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft. After one year in Cleveland the Browns traded him to the Colts, where he lasted two years. He has tried to catch on with the Raiders and Ravens but hasn’t played in a game since the 2014 season.

Trevone Boykin arrested after car he was riding in backs into a bar

Seahawks backup quarterback Trevone Boykin was arrested this morning in Dallas, after a car crash which injured five people.

According to FOX 4 in Dallas, Boykin was the passenger in a car that backed into a bar, injuring a group of four bystanders who were outside. Three of them were taken to the hospital with injuries including a broken ankle and dislocated arm, but none of the injuries were life threatening.

The woman driving the car was allegedly the drunk one and arrested for suspicion of DWI, but Boykin was arrested on two counts of marijuana possession and public intoxication. He remains in the Dallas County jail at the moment.

Boykin served as Russell Wilson’s backup last year as a rookie, after an ignominious end to his college career at TCU. He was suspended for the Alamo Bowl after he was arrested for hitting a cop.

Despite the fact he wasn’t driving, the arrest sets him up for possible punishment from the league. He appeared in six games last year, throwing 18 passes.

He gets in the car with someone...and gets arrested? How does that happen? And the women gets the GBI charge?

The public intoxication charge is the funny one. He was in a car that was in an accident. What did they want him to do, stay sitting in the car?

Michael Irvin investigated for sexual assault

Hall of Fame Cowboys receiver and NFL Network commentator Michael Irvin is being investigated in a sexual assault case.

A 27-year-old woman told police she and Irvin were out at a bar and went back to his hotel together. She says she began to feel sick in his room, remembers fighting him off, and woke up as he was checking out. She called 911 at 7:30 a.m. on March 21, said she feared she was drugged and raped, and went to a medical lab for a swab and blood test, according to TMZ.

Irvin’s lawyer, Larry Friedman, is denying the charge.

The allegations are completely false,” Friedman told TMZ. “In the few hours since we’ve learned about them we’ve already discovered many red flags about this young woman’s background and the allegations she made against Michael. Even the complaint that she made specifically says she does not recall the events that took place. She was very drunk that night. Nothing happened and there was no assault.”

This is at least the third time Irvin has been named in a sexual assault case, but he has never been criminally charged. In 1997 he was falsely accused by a woman named Nina Shahravan, who admitted she lied and was sentenced to 90 days in jail for misdemeanor perjury in connection with the incident.

In 2007 he was accused of sexually assaulting a woman in a hotel room. Prosecutors did not press charges, she sued him in civil court, he countersued for defamation, and those lawsuits resulted in a confidential settlement.

NFL Network told PFT that it will decline comment at this time.

It would be hard for the league-owned NFL Network to justify not suspending Irvin now that he has been accused again, given the precedent the league set by suspending Ben Roethlisberger. Although Roethlisberger maintained his innocence and did not face criminal charges, he was first named in a civil suit by one woman who claimed he raped her in a hotel room, then named later in a criminal complaint by another woman who claimed he sexually assaulted her in a bar restroom.

After the second accusation, the NFL suspended Roethlisberger for the first four games of the 2010 season. Although Roethlisberger is an active player while Irvin is a retired player who works for the league as a broadcaster, they both work in the NFL, and the NFL has said its personal conduct rules apply to everyone who works in the league.

Irvin has not commented on the accusation.
