No doubt these were two gifted players. They would excel regardless of offensive system.

That said; they played in a beautiful offense (for wide receivers).

Schotty has some work to do with his missionary-position offense, IMO.

Good point! The Martz system was more beneficial to receivers while the Shottenheimer system is not. Swamping the field with four wide receivers made it easier for someone to get open.

I understand Prime, but again, these are (in theory) the best of the best, college hero's and stand out's, it shouldn't take a HOF'er to get open. If that were true, then 90% of pro receivers in the game wouldn't attain the catch's and receiving yards they do year after year.

There's obviously a difference between being good and being in the Hall of Fame. We had two of the latter type of receivers on the field at the same time. This is why so many here are hoping for Sammy Watkins to be picked. A receiver like that can open things up for everyone else.

Prime, this still doesn't explain why other teams are successful including the seachickens who's receivers are not H-O- Famers. Let's be honest, there's either a lack of talent or a lack of planning and scheming involved here. The Rams have had ample time to select receivers capable of getting separation. Let's face it, this isn't about HoF players, instead it's about planning, O strategy and coaching. There are 32 teams out there and at least half of them put up more points and yards than do the Rams.

Perhaps improvements to the O line will finally make the difference, but other than more time in the pocket for Bradford, I'm still not convinced that the Rams receiving corp's has the "goods." I think Tavon has the ability, but will his size keep him on the injured list? We know that Givens has the speed, but can he become more than a one trick pony? Quick has been a bust and if I were Fisher, I'd cut him if he doesn't drastically improve this season. As for Pettis, we know his role and it ain't HoFamer material. Perhaps Bailey will shine, but like so many of the Rams receivers, height and size isn't exactly a strength is it?

And to beat a dead horse, again I ask; who is the "go to guy"......and to those who suggest that a #1 receiver or "go to guy" isn't necessary, I've still got that bridge, if you're interested.

Where were you for this game?

Me: I couldn't get tickets... So my buddies and I went to the TWA Dome tailgating lots, propped up a TV in the back of a pickup, and watched this game from the parking lot!

A few beers later... The city was rocking after this game!

Nuts!

A blast to experience!

You had me at "couldn't get tickets," man. Those were the days...

Schotty's offense worked better in NYJ with a much more handicapped QB but better weapons around Sanchez (Holmes, Keller, LT).

You can give a QB all day - but the receivers need to get open, period.

if you want to stay a starting a receiver in the NFL, you gotta learn to consistently separate and catch. Wonder who's job is up for Grabs to Brit (assuming he can regain form), Givens or AP/Quick's?

I forgot about the knee down on the one yard line, there will aways been a part of me to not knee down and add more points vs. the whiners

Lolz at Lawrence Phillips whiffing on that block. Man, that game was all shades of epic.

First thing that came to mind when Lawrence with on the blocking assignment was he had two choices the big strong dude coming inside (was supposed to get) or take the little guy on the outside... Appeared he went for the tiny dude what a pansy
