Barring injury I thought this would be fun I have already given the numbers by position now the players that IMHO will be there come the eve of the 12th of September.

Offensive Linemen (10)
LT...Greg Robinson, Darrell Williams
LG...Rodger Saffold, Garrett Reynolds
C...Tim Barnes, Demetrius Rhaney
RG...Jamon Brown, Cody Wichmann
RT...Rob Havenstein, Isaiah Battle

Donnal is odd man out here barring injury of course because if Saffold can't make it again then Reynolds slides into that position and Donnal stays behind Reynolds. Would not be shocked if Saffold can't answer the call, he could be the odd man out.

Tight Ends (4)
Lance Kendricks
Cory Harkey
Tyler Higbee
Tamarick Hemingway

Nothing to see here, new TE Coach John Lily has four solid guys to work with and here's hoping Higbee gets his head on straight.

Running Backs (4)
Todd Gurley
Benny Cunningham
Malcolm Brown
Chase Reynolds

Reynolds stays because Tre Mason will be put on the PUP list to start the season and I don't feel Aaron Green does enough to unseat Reynolds. If Mason comes back then Reynolds because of Nelson Spruce is history.

Wide Receivers (6)
Kenny Britt
Tavon Austin
Brian Quick
Pharoh Cooper
Mike Thomas
Nelson Spruce

I'm buying in on the hype on Spruce because he can actually catch the football and Quick get his last chance because I feel he can be the deep threat.

Quaterbacks (3)
Jared Goff
Case Keenum
Sean Mannion

A major weakness now becomes a strength, Goff starts the season and Keenum & Mannion give the Rams something they have not had for a long period of time.

Special Teams (3)
Greg Zuerlein
Johnny Hekker
Jake McQuaide

Rams still could bring in another veteran kicker as promised, however, Zuerlein would have to fail miserably in preseason to not get the gig. Hekker and McQuaide are as good as it gets.

Defensive Linemen (9)
William Hayes
Aaron Donald
Michael Brockers
Robert Quinn
Eugene Sims
Damon Easley
Cam Thomas
Ethan Westbrooks
Quinton Coples

This number could change just based on injury prone players like Easely, however, if all stay healthy I feel strongly the Rams keep 9 and would be quite a rotation with great depth as well.

Linebackers (5)
Mark Barron
Alec Ogletree
Hakim Ayers
Bryce Hager
Josh Forrest

Numbers crunch here and I'm giving Forrest the edge over Cameron Lynch, but I could see Forrest being the one draft choice that gets cut and ends up on the practice squad because Lynch does have game.

Defensive Backs (9)
Trumaine Johnson
E.J. Gaines
Lamarcus Joyner
Marcus Roberson
Coty Sensabaugh
T.J. McDonald
Maurice Alexander
Christian Bryant
Brian Randolph

Here is the upset with Cody Davis being ousted by Bryant and Randolph might not go this way, but most will think Davis will be the odd man out.

An outstanding final 53, den, based on current known information.

Yours is superior to Wagoner's, IMHO. Loved your brief explanations of your decisions, too.

So many excruciating decisions, huh?

Kills me to not include Longacre, but what can one do?

Tough decisions at LB and FS, too.

And I agree that Quick best take the bull by the horns and truly impress from day one of camp. He's definitely not a lock at this point.

This will be tough. Maybe my only disagreement on your entire list. (Based on my vast kn :rolllaugh:wledge ) Remember Williams singled out Lynch in his comments the other day. We'll see.

I agree here. But the decision may be made easier than we realize (injuries, camp performance) in August.

Here is Nick Wagoner's, I like mine better, however, I'm biased.

Rams' 53-man roster projection includes five first-round picks on defensive line

By Nick Wagoner

[espn.go.com]

The Los Angeles Rams wrapped up their offseason program on Thursday and open training camp on July 31 at the University of California-Irvine in Irvine, California. Here's a 53-man roster projection:

Offense

QUARTERBACKS (3): Jared Goff, Case Keenum, Sean Mannion, Nick Foles

Foles was absent for the majority of the offseason program and even coach Jeff Fisher has said that Foles doesn't expect to be on the roster when the season starts. The only question is how and when the sides part ways.

RUNNING BACKS (4): Todd Gurley, Benny Cunningham, Malcolm Brown, Chase Reynolds

Projecting what will become of Tre Mason is difficult at this stage as he still has a legal process that must play out after his offseason arrest. Even if he returns, it's possible he could be facing a suspension, which would still make this the most likely quartet.

TIGHT ENDS/FULLBACKS (4): Lance Kendricks, Cory Harkey, Tyler Higbee, Temarrick Hemingway

The Rams haven't always kept this many tight ends but they are already high on Higbee's potential as a pass-catcher and view Hemingway as a possible special teams contributor in addition to his upside so they could go a little heavy here.

OFFENSIVE LINEMEN (10): Greg Robinson, Rodger Saffold, Tim Barnes, Jamon Brown, Rob Havenstein, Garrett Reynolds, Cody Wichmann, Andrew Donnal, Isaiah Battle, Demetrius Rhaney

Speaking of keeping extra players at a position, this is the spot the Rams have regularly gone with more than the league average and I expect them to do so again. If they can develop someone like Wichmann as a reliable backup center, it's possible he and Rhaney could battle for one spot. For now, we'll project both to stay.

WIDE RECEIVERS (6): Kenny Britt, Tavon Austin, Brian Quick, Pharoh Cooper, Michael Thomas, Bradley Marquez

The Rams are high on their undrafted rookie class at this position and someone like Nelson Spruce, Paul McRoberts, Duke Williams or Marquez North could easily steal a roster spot but until we see one of them emerge with the pads on, we'll go with the draft picks and incumbents.

DEFENSIVE LINEMEN (9): Robert Quinn, William Hayes, Aaron Donald, Michael Brockers, Quinton Coples, Eugene Sims, Ethan Westbrooks, Dominique Easley, Matt Longacre

The injury to defensive tackle Louis Trinca-Pasat means there's probably not going to be much drama here so long as Easley proves healthy and capable inside. Keeping a ninth defensive lineman has been common practice for the Rams under Fisher but it's no sure thing they'll do it again. If that's the case, Longacre could get bumped for another linebacker or safety.

LINEBACKERS (5): Alec Ogletree, Mark Barron, Akeem Ayers, Bryce Hager, Cameron Lynch

The Rams have an intriguing group of undrafted free agents here plus drafted rookie Josh Forrest, but to make room for a sixth wideout and 10th offensive lineman, they'll have to go a little light somewhere and they've done so at linebacker in the past.

CORNERBACKS (5): Trumaine Johnson, E.J. Gaines, Lamarcus Joyner, Coty Sensabaugh, Marcus Roberson

Perhaps someone like Troy Hill or Mike Jordan could push Roberson for a spot but if the Rams keep only five, this is the group that looks most likely to stick around.

SAFTIES (4)

T.J. McDonald, Maurice Alexander, Cody Davis, Christian Bryant

Not keeping an undrafted safety like Brian Randolph was one of the toughest decisions and when we do this again during training camp, that could change. McDonald's uncertain legal status and possible punishment from the league could also alter how this looks on opening day.

SPECIALISTS (3): Greg Zuerlein, K; Johnny Hekker, P; Jake McQuaide, LS

Despite insistences to the contrary, the Rams didn't seem to bring in true competition for Zuerlein, though we still have to see whether undrafted rookie Taylor Bertolet gets a real shot to push for his job. Still, the early hunch here is that Zuerlein wins out. Safe to say the best punter in the league isn't going anywhere. McQuaide doesn't get much attention for his consistency and that's exactly what you want from a long snapper.

With the rams most likely going heavier at TE and WR I think this is the year they only keep 8 DL especially since most DLs dont contribute alot on special teams. Hayes, Simms, Westbrooks, and Coples can play inside and outside so that gives them alot of versatility. Williams also moved Donald around alot more towards the end of last year, so I expect that to continue. I also think we can sneak a guy like longacre onto the practice squad giving us quality depth in case of injury.

Is anyone in this years crop of UDFA WRs as good as Marquez on special teams? I don't think so. Fisher compared him to perennial pro bowl special teamer Matthew Slater. He is also decent in the slot, no way I see him not making a Jeff fisher coached team. IMO Marquez is much safer than Quick.

I really Like your pick! But let me make a few points:
At WR-
Lookout For North, Duke Williams, and Marquez to put up a fight for a spot!
I agree with the rest of your Offense(y)
On the "D-Line"
I had high hope for Trinca-Pasat, I still do. But keep an eye on Longacre, and Seau!
And finally, I'm not going to bet against Cody Davis!:mrburnsevil:

Plus Marquez was reportedly looking good in OTA drills, SYG.

I hate to post it, but its true in every TC the Rams have had in the last ten years, someone is going to get hurt and go on the IR, so your final 53 will be a bit different.

i still dont think Reynolds makes the team. He offers nothing offensively so you are really only keeping him for ST, and I think Marquez offers just as much, if not more, on ST and can actually help you offensively. Not to mention Tavon and Cooper can play some RB if need be and would get carries at RB way before Reynolds would. I get 4 RBs and 6WRs look better than 3 RBs and 7 WRs but i just dont see how they can keep a guy that doesnt offer anything outside of ST, and not even as a returner. I also think they could keep 5 safeties over 10 lineman thanks to the versatility of our lineman and the lack of clarity of McDonald's legal issues.

All excellent points and I hope you're right about Eric Kush, however, what I do know about Kush was the Chiefs tried to hand him their starting center position a couple of years ago and unlike Tim Barnes, he did not get out of preseason. But I'm not a big fan of Rhaney so I would be fine.

Incorrect on Easley being a cancer, that much was repudiated by some of the Patriot players, however, we won't know until training camp and if healthy would be a good back up for Donald.
As to Cam Thomas I like size Rams don't have anyone that stout besides Brockers the rest are Ends like Westbrooks converted to tackles, IMO, I would like to have more size and I'm betting on defensive line coaches Mike Waufle and Clyde Simmons to improve his technique and as to Longacre, I need to see more of him in preseason, but would rather go with the younger guy if he truly has the upside.

Randolph and Davis I'm not on the inside like you to know that Cody Davis is a Fisher favorite, but I watched enough of Randolph in college to feel strongly, he has a shot.

Not really we already have cooper for slot and Higbee and tavon will be in slot to. Quick is in a different position

I am basing Marquez's roster spot on his elite special teams ability that no other WR or offensive player on our roster has. His ability to play in the slot is an added bonus. Quick does not play special teams and hasn't proven to be a better deep threat than Britt. I would rather a reserve WR who plays all special teams at a high level and can contribute on offense if needed instead of a guy who plays no special teams and may or may not give you anything on offense.

Quick does play a different position, but his competition is Mcroberts, Marquez North, Mike Thomas, Duke Williams, and Kenny Britt. Alot of promising young guys and our most established deep threat in Britt. Marquez is really only competing with Spruce and Cooper and with cooper being the presumed starter in the slot the reserve guy needs to contribute on special teams. Marquez is a top notch special teamer and I don't know yet if Spruce can be that.

Good points,on second thought, Cam Thomas = (53 man roster)

Quite frankly I have not seen him play much, but the Rams had Nick Fairley last year who filled in admirable for Brockers now another run stopping defensive tackle could break lose, but I hope Thomas can be an excellent role player against the run and I trust the coaches on the defensive side of the ball to make the proper evaluations.

The players on the special team generally are not star players (Reynolds). However, special teams can often determine the outcome of the game. A big punt or kick off return for long yardage or a touchdown can change the score quickly and turn the momentum of the game

Never said ST isn't important but a great ST player that can contribute on offense or defense is much more valuable than a Great ST player that offers nothing on offense or defense.

I understand how important special teams are and that most teams will always have at least one guy on their roster that is there strictly because of what he offers special teams wise even if they never plan on using him on offense or defense. Which is why I said I expect them to keep Marquez over Reynolds if they want a ST ace. I'm not suggesting they get rid of a ST ace for a project player that may hardly see the field and isn't a great special teamer, I'm suggesting they keep an equally great special teamer who also offers more in other aspects of the game.

It's entirely possible they keep Reynolds and Marquez, but I don't see how they could prefer Reynolds over Marquez if it comes down to that
