If I were stacking this roster I make room for him. Same with Hodge.

Re: Wolfy... He's not as cheap as Bortles. And that extra WR slot needs to come from somewhere lol.

Well, i'm not sure Bortles could make that throw.

I agree with you. But I also don't think the Wolfy we saw last night would be the guy we'd see if he had to play 4+ games at this level.

No, it doesn't. It's a nice throw, but it doesn't hold a candle to the TD Goff threw to Kupp against the Vikings.

That was a better throw on a much bigger stage, but what else could Wolford have done in Preseason that could more show case his skills? He drove the team down for two TD's, Allen got no TD';s and two Ints in the same game. I know there is no definite way to define a guy having "IT", but that's what I see when I see Wolford.

PS..I didn't say the throw was better than Goff's best throw in 2018, I said it Ranks with Goffs throws in 2018...Not the same thing

As for Wolford not being cheaper than Bortles? Wolford should be making the veteran minimum and doesn't that go up with seniority? Both would be cheap, but Wolford would most likely be cheaper in a year for the long term than Bortles, I would think. To me, I think he could be better than Bortles in any case.

Wolford is signed for $495K for this year, none of it guaranteed. Bortles is signed for one year at $1M all guaranteed. That's not much for a backup vet QB. That is why IMO Bortles is bigtime trade bait right now. Do you think Indy would be looking for a vet backup QB if they had Bortles? In fact Bortles behind a good o-line is probably as good or better than Jacoby. In fact Jacoby is making $2M and in the final year of his contract. So yeah it's a no brainer IMO, Bortles would be worth something to Indy.

After watching Bortles, I'm convinced he's better than most people think. I think he was victimized by a terrible o-line and poor coaching. In Indy he will have a much better o-line and coaching. So yeah Snead go get a 3rd or 4th round pick for Bortles!! LOL

Yeah but you worded it with “any throw”! Lol

I wouldn’t say that much but against 3rd, 4th, or 5th stringers it was a hell of a throw.

Wolford can only control his level of play on the field and not who he plays against in which I agree. I’d love to have him as our 3rd QB and see what happens with his development.

I said it would "rank with any of Goffs best throws! That could be 15th versus Goffs best throws...But it was a over the shoulder throw on the run, where only Webster could get it. That is a rare ability to do that and not get picked.

I am expecting some rust so 3-2 to start the season - then 10-1 the rest of the way for another 13-3 season.

I like Wolford. He reminds me a little bit of Warner for some reason. That said, I can think of at least 10 Goff throws from last season.... off the top of my head......that rank higher.... Lolz.

True, but level of competition matters.

Wolford's throw on the run to Blanton was pretty damn good. It was similar to Goff to Kupp in the corner in the Vikings game. If the back up can make throws like that, sign me the F up!

He has ability and looks like he could be a good long-term back up.

To me he is a more athletic Case Keenum, which is a compliment.

In a real game, against 1st teamers, he would have to deal with a faster more athletic defensive front, but he would adjust. Still his size would limit him somewhat compared to a guy like Goff, but again he looks like a nice back up.

Heck man, the best block Edwards threw all preseason was the hit that took out Neary.....
He shows a knack for eliminating competition.

Wolford might develop - I doubt he'd ever be a good starter. He looked good - at times - against players who are unlikely to be be on a NFL roster this season (at least the vast majority). As a practice squad player, fine. But while I hate the Patriots, I like what they do for reserve QBs - they draft relatively high to try to get someone who can play enough that the season isn't screwed if Brady misses time.

Now that the Rams have a deep team, it's time for them to draft a real long term backup QB next season, and not count on luck or questionable kids to fill the backup spot.
