Still possible situational pass rusher and OLB maybe. Just a thought.

Unless he can play OLB, why? Now if he can, go for it. But I was under the impression he was viewed as not being LB potential. PS might be a good fit.

Then again, what's his special teams value?

Well, its not a good sign that they released him from their PS
The Rams wouldnt have needed them to do so in order to sign him to their active roster

It's not a big deal anymore. The hype is over.
exactly so why are we still talking about him possibly playing for the Rams. Rams didn't want him Cowboys don't want him. he's obviously no good ok so the circus is over. let's talk about reality and not Michael Sam

Writing off a player who gets cut from someones practice squad just because he was cut isn't supported historically. Lots of good players have been cut.

That being said, I would rather see some O line raw talent on the PS.

Ease up. Just idle talk as none of us is signing anyone to anything. But the coaches liked him before and he was one of our last cuts AND he is the subject of this thread. I'm not advocating for him but I could see him being signed to the PS over quite a few other options out there.

I agree. I would also like to see some O-line talent AND a true OLB maybe but who knows. I don't know anywhere near what the coaches do about MS.

Being released by two teams doesn't necessarily mean he isn't any good.

James Harrison spent the first 2 years of his career on the practice squad, being released 3 times.

I'd suspect the Rams look to add a WR to the PS. Releasing one from the active roster and the PS is probably a bit of a hint...but they do now have 2 spots so who knows.

Cowboys release Michael Sam from practice squad
Posted by Mike Florio on October 21, 2014, 3:34 PM ED

A lot has happened since the Rams cut defensive end Michael Sam, he languished for a few days, and then he landed on the Cowboys’ practice squad. Out of sight and largely out of mind, Sam is once again out of an NFL job.

Per multiple reports, the Cowboys have released Sam from the practice squad. The first openly gay player in NFL history is now free to sign with any other team’s practice squad.

Throughout the past seven weeks, he also has been available to sign with any team’s 53-man roster. But there has been no chatter or interest in anyone doing that.

The NFL reportedly had made a couple of phone calls aimed at persuading someone to give Sam a spot on the practice squad, before the Cowboys did. With domestic violence lingering on the NFL’s front burner, however, the league may no longer be concerned about avoiding the perception that Sam was rejected based on his sexual orientation.

Well, as we all remember, the Rams are so amazingly dominant at sacking QB's that we just had no place on our team for another sack specialist.

I will say that this is the part I would have a problem with. I might not even have a problem with them bringing it up in the owner meetings but "a couple of phone calls"? What the hell does that mean and how do they come up with the couple teams that they would call? No matter how you slice it - this statement doesn't look good for the NFL leadership. I remember reading this before and it really stuck in my craw.

Please guys - don't make this into a political debate over sexual orientation.

I just wonder what the NFL was thinking if they indeed only called a couple of franchises or if they even did make those calls. Because if that part is true, the NFL is truly being run by idiots.

I think Sam is just a bit immature. Westbrooks, at an earlier stage "got it". I've been told Sam still, a bit too, much talk. He's an intelligent guy, would kind of think he "knew it". Does not mean this experience will be lost on him, could still come back and be a player in NFL
