Mel Kiper Jr. breaks down his most recent mock draft, the reason for QB Teddy Bridgewater’s decline and the Browns’ interest in a certain playmaking quarterback. He has the Rams taking Robinson after Clowney goes #1. The rest of the Top 10: 3. Watkins 4. Manziel 5. Mack 6. Lewan 7. Evans 8. Bortles 9. Matthews 10. Dix. (3:58)

If the Rams go oline at 2, without a doubt they go Mathews.

I don't know why the mock drafters don't get that.

No way Bridgewater falls to second. No way.

Insanity has set in with this draft moving back.

If Bridgewater drops out if the top 10, I can see teams wanting to trade up to get him. Might be another opportunity to shop our 13 for more picks on day 2. That gives us flexibility to move back to the bottom of the 1st if we see something we like. We really are in a position of power n this draft and it wouldn't surprise me if we ended up with 3 picks in the 1st when all is said and done.

If Matthews is still there at 9 after they take Robinson I would be just fine with the Rams doing whatever they need to go get him. Leave Robinson at G forever and have Matthews in position to take over the swing T in 2014 and one of the T spots full time in 2015.

Matthews Robinson Jones/Barnes Saffold Long

Very possible, IMO. Elite skills and size. Someone will fall in love with him.

He also has serious character issues. Someone will fall in love with him, yes, but not in the top ten. Maybe the Titans take him, but that's the earliest I see him going.

I have a feeling he'll go in the top 10, just don't hope it's us.

If we take Lewan in the top ten, I'll drive up to New York and hit Snisher in the balls with a fucking crowbar.

These guys never factor in trades IMO the Rams are making a trade with the Falcons if the Texans draft Clowney so they can take Mack and thus the Rams end up with Matthews who is Fisher's Choice then at 13 IMO it will be Gilbert or Dennard.

Mel Kiper’s Updated Mock Draft [2 rds]: Shoring Up The Secondary for the Rams
By Brandon Bate

Mel Kiper Jr. released his updated 2014 NFL mock draft today [version 4.0] For those who don’t have ESPN Insider, have a look at his selections for the Rams...

The Houston Texans decide to take Jadaveon Clowney with the first overall selection, placing the St. Louis Rams on the clock at No. 2...

Round 1, Pick 2: Greg Robinson, OT, Auburn

If I'm making the pick, I'm willing to consider Sammy Watkins here based on need, and would also certainly consider the option of moving down a few spots if the offer is rich enough. But Robinson is one of the better offensive linemen to enter the draft in years, with the upside of an All-Pro at left tackle, capable of neutralizing the best pass-rushers and absolutely mauling defenders in the run game. St. Louis can select him knowing an impact wide receiver is still going to be available at No. 13 (and even beyond that given the depth at the position).

Round 1, Pick 13: Darqueze Dennard, CB, Michigan St.

I'll get pilloried here for not making this a wide receiver, but do remember this is a very deep draft at that position, and getting the cornerback with the most diverse skill set in the draft would also really help this team. Dennard is ready to help an NFL team at a position where rookies tend to get beat up pretty bad early on as they adjust to the speed and talent level of NFL wide receivers. But Dennard can play on or off, attacks the backfield as a run defender, and can mirror routes as well as any CB in the draft. Yes, I think this could be Odell Beckham, too. We'll see.

Round 2, Pick 12: Jimmie Ward, S, Northern Illinois

Ward can be special in coverage and fills a need for the Rams, as he can pair with the now healthy T.J. McDonald to shore up the back end of that defense.
For those wondering, Mike Evans and HaHa Clinton-Dix were both off the board by the 13th selection; taken by the Buccaneers [7] and Lions [10], respectively. DT Aaron Donald and FS Calvin Pryor were both available at 13.

In the 2nd round, Xavier Su’a-Filo went No. 43 overall to the NY Giants...one pick prior to the Rams. Notable players - or at least those often linked to the Rams - who were still available included: Louis Nix III, Pierre Desir, and Cyrus Kouandijo.

I still like Aaron Donald at #13 over defensive back, but this isn't too shabby.

This is easily my favorite mock by far. Dennard and Ward are two of my favorite DB's in this draft and I love the idea of Robinson at LG for 10 years. If the plan is to draft a T at 2 then Matthews seems like a better option, but I would be ok with Robinson or Matthews there. I just want nothing to do with Robinson at LT this year.

As you know Mojo, I've wanted Donald or Gilbert/Dennard at 13 all along, but I really didn't think any (maybe Dennard) would be there. Finally, a draft honk has us taking Ward in the 2nd. I was hoping for the 3rd round, but now I doubt he makes it that far. The secrets out after the senior bowl...

My biggest concern is all my picks are in line with Kiper's. Time to rethink this! ;)
