Maybe he just realized that he still has the skills to be a decent back -up, and might suit up and give Hill a run for his money

You're just a Martz apologist.
I just want to apologize for everything, especially yeast infections, wandering uterus syndrome, and the ever lurking PMS
Yes that's right Pissed at Martz Syndrome: Sufferers symptoms can but don't have to be ,selective memory, acid reflux, hives, speed reading two lines of posts then writing war and peace rebuttals of things not said , dry mouth, rectal bleeding, stained underwear and a general feeling that the past will change if it's rehashed enough times.
I have other things I want to apologize for but ,I'm out of time on the computer and must make some phone calls to apologize for not calling sooner.

A couple of you guys have mentioned he was lucky to get out because of the beatings Bulger took and I will say this about that point.

Warner wouldn't have taken all of those sacks, he was better in the pocket than Bulger. He also got rid of the ball faster and made faster decisions which would have reduced the hits. Also.....I saw most of his games in AZ. The OL the Cardinals had at the time wasn't really any better and Warner was taking plenty of hits. Lastly I don't think there are many guys who played QB that were tougher than Warner, in his era maybe McNair is the only guy I'd say was tougher but that's not completely fair because McNair might be the toughest guy ever under center.
I'm nitpicking here Les, but this is very debatable. Warner was known for his quick release and accuracy....but go back and watch Marc the Bulger's throws. They were both extremely quick in terms of DNA rifle and release. I actually think Bulger might have been a little quicker.

Right.
Like I put in my post.
Could be the NFL network dictating where he'll go.

I was reinforcing it that's all, because it's probable that he didn't get much if any say so. The thread devolved I was trying to bring it back in like I think you were.

First off I am a Warner lover through and through. With that being said, probably the best thing that happened to Warner was being pushed out of St. Louis. If Warner had stuck around and had to endure the beating that Bulger took there would be no storybook ending for Warner.

while that may be true it doesn't make the way it all came down any better.

imagine a qb like warner having to hold the cllipboard for a qb like bulger for a whole season. how would that have made him feel?

i've never seen a team ditch their franchise qb after 5 or 6 bad games. unheard of.

for at least the next three seasons when they would interview kurt before his team would play the rams he would still say he couldn't comprehend how it all ended, that he wasn't playing for the rams anymore.

Early in his career, Bulger's quick release was touted as one of the big positives about the guy. It didn't help him. The Rams line was THAT bad.

Even Faulk pointed out once that Warner would have really suffered with our OL at the time.

But that debate is called the "endless" debate for a reason.

while he may have had a quicker release, he didn't necessarily make quicker decisions which was kurt's forte. if the rams would have just helped him regain his mojo instead of dumping him like a bad habit after the giants game we don't know what the outcome would have been.

We may not know for sure if the outcome would have been different, but I do point to the idea that he lost two other starting jobs after he left the Rams (young draft choices or not, he could have played well enough to force the teams to keep him. He didn't.) and that he really didn't return to being Kurt until so much longer later that there is simply no way the Rams could have kept him for that long on his current contract.

And FWIW until he had guys like Fitz and Bolden to throw to.

I like Warner fine and he was at one time the best at running Martz's offense you could imagine but all the Martz screwed him talk ignore who made him in the first place, Vermeil left him unprotected from the Browns in the expansion draft,When Kurt met Mike he advanced like a rocket and so have several lesser QBs,they both profited wildly from the relationship and in the end Warner got the better deal so all the "hate" goin round just keeps the holder hostage ,those were great times ,now we're gonna get some more.

He had a dismal NYG team above .500 and they (NYG) decided there was no better time than the present to put the rookie Manning in.
