1. Battle for the No. 1 seed in AFC: You have to go back to 1969 to see a game that featured teams with records like Kansas City and Denver. The Kansas City Chiefs are 9-0 and well-rested thanks to a bye. The Denver Broncos are 8-1. In 1969, an 11-0 Los Angeles Rams team met the 10-1 Minnesota Vikings. Though their records are close, the Chiefs and Broncos couldn't be more different in terms of styles. The Broncos rely on the mind and arm of Peyton Manning. They're on pace for an NFL-record 654-point season. Under Andy Reid, the Chiefs win with a great defense and a conservative offense. Opponents are averaging only 12.3 points a game against them. Something has to give. Will the game be high- or low-scoring? Complicating things is the right high-ankle sprain of Peyton Manning. Manning's style of play allows him to stay on the field when others would have to sit. He works roughly 70 percent of his plays from the shotgun, which allows him to play pitch-and-catch with his receivers and tight ends. As hard as the San Diego Chargers rushed him in Week 10, they got to him only five times. The Chiefs have a better pass rush and know Manning is hobbled. If the game is high-scoring, it might be hard for the Chiefs to stay with the Broncos. Chiefs QB Alex Smith primarily has only two main weapons -- Jamaal Charles and Dwayne Bowe. If they are injured or contained, the Chiefs will have difficulty moving the ball.

I think the KC defense is good; but I'm not buying this team. Yet.

Sunday could change it, but for now; Denver wins and covers.

Yeah I hope you are right,I'm just hoping no one decides to take one for the team and goes low on Mannings knee or ankles late,if he goes out like that ,knowing Mile High the way I do, the KC team bus is gonna need Homeland Security to escort them out.

In a good clean game ,I can't see KC staying with the Broncos ,but the image of Tony Siragusa butt pouncing on Rich Gannon keeps popping into my mind.

No way the Chiefs win this game. They're a sub-par scoring offense who lives off of turnovers (#1 in the league).
I don't see Manning giving them too many opportunities. This one is going to be lopsided, and I'm betting ALL of my money on it.

I'm not a bettor, but with a W over one team with a winning record between the two of them I think we'll see both squads exposed for who they really are. Strength against strength, I take KC only because I don't think Manning is healthy enough to give us his usual stuff.

If Peyton doesn't have any major issues with his ankle the Bronco's should win. But KC does have a very good D. Althought neither team has really played anyone yet. I think it'll be closer than mose people think. I don't believe Denver will be in the 40's as usual. I think more like a 28-17 game or so. KC doesn't have enough offense IMO to win.
So unless Denver gives it away they'll both be 9-1. But Denver's OL has been pretty bad of late and KC has a rally good DL. Not to mention Houston (LB) has been playing lights out.

Denver, but it will be close.

Chiefs defense is beastly. Denver suddenly has issues (Peyton's ankle, intern coach, so-so defense) that will make them not seem as dominant.

KC has a strong secondary and a solid pass rush.

I take Denver because, well, Manning.

I think its a close one, but Mannings ankle is hurt and KCs defense is very very good. I'd be scared trying to protect vs that. I think this is going to be a close game no matter who wins because Denver's defense is not good and Charles is for real.

Maybe Im wrong and Manning blows them out, but good defenses usually dont allow that. Manning is my fantasy QB so if he does, well I still win :)

People are going to say Broncos but I really think the Chiefs have a chance.

The Chief's are my AFC team like the Rams are my NFC team. Rams have a higher spot though.

Chiefs get home field advantage in the playoffs and watch out. That stadium is unreal.

This is one of the games I cannot bet the free ROD money on....I just don't have a gut feeling at all. I'm thinking Denver might win....but the 8 points chased me off.

The others are Seattle @ Minnesota....cannot give the 13 ( but the line has moved to 12)

and Detroit @ Pitt....I don't think Detroit is all that much of a favorite in the steel city.

another is San Diego at Miami......who can trust San Diego if the last 10 years are considered? LOL

Yeah my 1a. team is Denver, and THAT stadium is pretty much the same with rarefied air , I pretty well think if everyone stays healthy these are the 1 and 2 seeds in the playoff caveat the team that loses today could provide the rest of the league a "blueprint" on how to beat them.

In the end my fan affiliation aside games like this I ask myself
Which team do you consider the better bet to blow the other one out ?
I don't think anyone will answer that KC ,even their most ardent fans don't expect them to blow the Broncos out in this game and further ,I also ask,If one of these teams is down by two or more scores ,which team would you think could come back in the 4th? Again the answer is the same.

Once upon a time the Bradshaw Steelers came to play the S.L. Cards ,I was asked by another season ticket holder, what are our chances ? answer 1 chance, Bradshaw goes out ,he did, Cards were winning he came back in the game and drove a truck over them,IMO the only way KC wins is if they put Manning out ,but FWIW they have people who could.

Alex Smith will need to take chances in this game he hasn't yet this season, three and out and punt for field position let the defense keep you in the game won't work ,gotta keep Manning off the field and limit his shots atcha.
Gonna be ONE HELL OF A GAME ,wish we were there to beat on each other

The Chiefs D is legit. Houston and Hali are a great pass rushing duo.

If the Chiefs lose, it's going to be due to their offense.

I took the points but I don't often bet against the man.

Now if we get him in KC in the playoffs, I would still be reluctant to bet against the man.

It's a losing bet.

They came close for ya, and Alex Smith is making Harbaugh look like a knee jerk fan.
I just saw Lavar Arrington predict that the Chiefs will win in KC using the "mile high is hard to play in" rational, I won't call it an excuse because it's a valid point,I think though that what gets overlooked about the "mile high" paradigm is this:

The mile high disadvantage/advantage is about the visiting team not being able to re-oxygenate and they fatigue worse than a team that play and practice there all the time, but in the end those player who "play THERE all the time" just re-oxygenate better at every elevation.
When the Broncos beat the Packers in the Super Bowl the Packers were sooooo done in the 4th quarter they could barely stand erect ,people who live at that elevation are naturally better cardiovascular-ly and that advantage "travels".
I think that game in KC will play out very similarly unless the Chiefs can get a lead in the first half cuz the second half and especially the 4th quarter fatigue becomes a factor and it advantages the Broncos ,just does.

What is unfortunate (and I didn't think about it until they spoke of it last night ) these two teams could end up 15-1 and 14-2 and the 14-2 drops to the #5 seed, somethin not right about that, your Chiefs deserve better:wink::razz:
