Just trying to lighten things up a bit.

The Rams are out if the playoffs because the 1st year head coach rested some starters which left the inexperienced team flat coming out of the gate, which led to the pro bowl return man fumbling and bumbling all over the field. In turn our 2nd year quarterback was a tad rusty, and that might or might not have led to a few critical drops by key members of the offense.

Because the offense was inefficient, the defense got tired from being on the field for 3/4of the game, which led to missed tackles on a bad field.

They shoulda lost the week before which woulda put them in the 4th seed playing Carolina instead of Atlanta. How's that?

They played a poor game in prime time in front of a packed home crowd . That sums it up

Real simple.

Rams got beat by a team with superior players who performed better.

I didn't see us as flat because we rested our players. Atlanta brought more fire and resolve. We were hyped up on the adrenaline rush and wasn't ourselves. Atlanta took it upon themselves to take away our running game which would make us "speed up the game" for our defense. But not having success in either facet set the tone for Atlanta's offense to stay on the field and our defense not getting off. Sean's tendency of going pass first, run after the pass has been established caught up w/ us. Our defense played tough.....but losing Brockers and not getting off the field wore us down across the board. As it was stated in another game, by the end of the year, everyone has a better understanding of what their opponent wants to do. And we played right into Atlanta's hands. Later in the game we had some success running the ball, but that is a natural reaction of dealing w/ Gurley as the game wears on. If we would have worked the running game earlier (at least twice as much as we did....) it probably changes the game in the 2nd half. As it is said we are 9-0 when Gurley gets 20+ touches. Well we needed to get his touches earlier last night to make Atlanta change their strategy in the 2nd half. But that is one of those "lesson learned" things.
We were/are close, but we just wasn't ready to play for the brass ring yet.

We should've went 0-16, that way we wouldn't have lost any playoff games.

It’s a bit of the chicken or the egg.
We had 20 minutes to Atlanta’s 40.
So we had to throw.
Or...
We only had 20 minutes because we didn’t run.

Bottom line boys, we lost because we turned it over inside the 30 twice in the first ten minutes.
Period

That said, Higbee makes that catch and Goff put 2 more feet of air under that ball and/or Watkins fights a bit harder - who knows?

Wasn’t impressed at all with Falcon’s O, but their D played very, very well imo.
