It's the pain of home ownership! Sometimes I wish I'd just rent.

I have to repair my roof as I lost a 10'x10' foot section in the Noreaster that blew thru here almost a month ago. Right now, I've got tar paper and furring strips keeping me dry inside.

My house is new, but I held off on doing a deck and front steps while putting in the yard. Now, both of those need to be finished.

It's like a cash drain.

I have always lived under the "the make em new everyday" philosophy, and just always bought new whenever . And I am not one to price shop either, but wifey and I are on a mission to cut our debt in half this year, and again next year and be debt free by the time she turns the big 50.

Not saying we are in serious debt or anything, but between the 2 of us we are at under 80k with mortgage being 64k of that and another 12k being home equity credit line (new septic costs us almost 20k 2 years ago.

So fix it if ya can, and if ya cant, look around for the best deals

Being debt free is so less stressful. My wife and I paid off everything over the past 3 yrs and now when something breaks or we want something it is so much easier to just go pay cash. We rent so that would save us on repairs, but nothing has broke, as I knock on wood. We even got got a break on the house we gave back to BofA, long story but they tried to stiff me on a mortgage modification so I told them they could have the house. They forgave my debt and I got a check for $3,000.00 for my troubles.

I am with you Rhody. I fixed my $1100.00 flat screen TV for 5 bucks. The Repairman told me it would be $600.00.

Fixed the water heater, washing machine, dishwasher, lawnmower, and mini Van doors............all thanks to the internet. When something breaks I just google it and find how to's. It feels good to not throw stuff away and waste money buying replacements.
