Too much money for a part-timer.

They'll let McLeod's deal run out and Barron's and probably decide which, if either, to just sign to a totally new contract.

Bad move. Contract would only be protected for injury. Sign him so that you control his rights. Same deal with RG3. Now we have no leverage for an assist we spent a 4th and 6th round picks. Poor planing.

If he had a serious injury in 2015 (Heaven forbid) then the Rams would be on the hook with a big cap and nothing to show for it. 8+ mil is too rich for a safety that has only played 9 games. I think the leverage would work the other way as it would also imply that as his perceived value by his agent and thus actually hinder negotiations.
