25 years old. That's the key for me. The dude has a ton of growing to do and what will he be after another few years in this offense? He's approaching full mastery of the scheme now IMO (seems to know protections now and gets through reads quickly) so really this is his "window" and he has a pretty good team around him.

He's gonna be a part of some championships I think. It could happen this year if this defense keeps growing in this scheme and they can avoid any further major injuries.

Agreed.
Any time Jimmy G and Jared G are compared to each other, I just ask if San Fran would be better with Goff and if LA would be better with Grabapole.
Personally I think Goff would make the 49ers much better and Grabapole would limit the types of plays McVay dials up. I don't see him executing McVays offense nearly as well as Goff has but I think Jared could do everything Shanahan asked of him and then some.
If Jimmy is a better than average QB, Goff is in the tier of Very Good QBs

He just turned 26 two weeks ago, but yeah. The other thing to keep into perspective is McVay is only 34!!

Lamar Jackson has thrown for less than 200 yards in four straight games and has only thrown over 204 yards once this year.

The thing about these running QB’s Is the short term success running around sets the whole organization back (Prescott, Wentz) and retards their growth as a pocket passer.

I’ll take the pocket passer every time as my franchise QB.

Goff might not have the burners or goaline targets to put up the gaudy TD numbers but his ability to throw dimes in the mid range game is elite and his production is undeniable, and will be for decades.

You nailed it! Goff is an elite passer with respect to accuracy and timing. Not many qbs could light it up in the Rams' midrange offense, which depends on precision route running and tight window passing. When Goff throws a less than perfect pass it now seems like a surprise and a disappointment.

His production over the last three years is at or near the top of the league. So is the team record under McVay and Goff. And Goff has become a serious threat as a rollout qb on the move.

Forget the talking heads. Goff is the real deal.

They use the term "above average quarterback" as a slight. Its GOOD to have an above average quarterback. That means your guy is better than most in the league!!!
I happen to think Jared is even better than that. He just needs to keep proving it. Key for me is J Goff under pressure. He's been really, really improved in that area this year.

Exactly. People say they'd trade him for Aaron Rogers e.g. Heck no--Goff has many years ahead of him and who knows what his ceiling is? He's also not the type of character who will allow himself to regress, not continuously work to improve, etc.

You share the sentiments of probably most Rams fans.

And I'm not even talking about being a Goff defender..

He's got the strangest perception of sports media and most of them have stayed the course about him.

I seems to me that most of the NFL media is going to always brand Goff as a coddled system quarterback under McVay's wing.

The only way it begins to fade, will be when he wins a SB.


This seems to be the poster child picture of Goff. No Sean McVay, nothing special about this quarterback

You guys keep on saying Goff isn't elite. He's been a top 5 QB (by the numbers) 3 out of the 5 seasons so far, one of those seasons was on the dreaded Fisher team and his rookie year. And yes, I'm counting this season already and that could bite me in the ass but if he continues to trend upward I don't see any issue calling our QB elite.
He's not fancy but he gets shit done and done well.
