Come on Jryy... He's a bad kid.

I'm not sure if this is sarcasm. Assuming it's not, I've met Blackmon. He's not a bad guy. Was down to earth, laid back and a pretty funny guy. I don't pretend to know him well but from my experience, you can generally tell if a guy's a douche or not by how he treats people that aren't important.

He very well might be immature and he seems to make bad decisions. But in terms of being a bad person? I don't see it.

Cool Jrry. I can't speak to the experience of meeting the man himself. All I see is his DUI's (and police record).

In my world it's about what a man (person) does, not about what a man (person) says.

In my opinion (which is bias), he's an alcoholic.

He might be that. I guess I don't consider that so much to make you a bad person. Just a person that has a problem.

I don't know him personally or anything so he may not be a good guy but I bumped into him a couple times in Jacksonville, had a quick conversation and he was gracious each time. Can't say the same for some other players I've bumped into.

Good point Jrry. And thanks for making that point. He may be a good person. Alcoholism effects a lot of people; good and bad. (Assuming he is an alcoholic, as opposed to your casual drinker who gets stopped multiple times by the police.)

I just wouldn't want to depend on the guy, let alone pay him #1 WR money.

I agree with you on that.

According to the Jaguars message board, the citation he was issued was cancelled also. No DUI and no reckless driving.

So, nothing illegal but the question of why he was out at 3:30 in the morning is still curious. We've all done it but we're talking about a guy who's got a past full of bad decisions. Hard to give the benefit of doubt.

I agree with you on that.

Cool. And as far as meeting NFL guys that were less than nice; been there, done that. They have a short career. And they know it. That's why they're unkind. It's insecurity.

You'll make more money that 95% of these guys, given that the average NFL career is short. Very short.

I played with some incredible athletes. But the absolute best. The best that I ever played with. The best that I ever saw. Today. He's selling cars.

The smartest switched positions and used the 3 years salary as a down payment on their future career.

Not. For. Long.

Blackmon represents the .001 in terms of athletic ability.

Yeah. At some point you have to connect the dots. What kind of guy is out at 3:30 am? I mean seriously!?? What kind of guy is out till 3:30 am?

If you have a girl... or multiple girls you're balls deep. If you're transitioning between girls you're home by then. You're not meeting girls after midnight. Not in America. Maybe Miami Beach. Maybe NYC. Maybe. Maybe.

It all adds up to addictive behavior. Plain as day.

Nothing magical about it. First two, he was drunk. And he was busted for it. This time, the cops say he wasn't drunk. And I don't believe for a second they'd lie because he's a Jaguar.

He's not a bad kid. And I think this one is a non-story.

I agree.. Unfortunately it will be hard for him to shake the label.

I don't know, I think there are plenty of plausible reasons to being out at that time that are perfectly innocent. He could have been going on a fishing trip for crying out loud. It's easy to jump to nefarious conclusions but no one knows at this point. Unfortunately, from the Jaguars board as well, he also had his picture taken recently at a party surrounded by alcohol, etc. Apparently he wasn't drinking but it seems a lot like tempting fate for a guy battling those demons to put himself in those situations.

If he can go out and not drink while being around all that stuff, more power to him. But it's hard to believe that he's making a good decision by being around the one thing that threatens to ruin him.

I stand corrected; he was out on a fishing trip. At 3:30am. The fish don't bit till sunrise. He was just getting a jump on um. ;)

3:30 am? Pretty much the norm when I was on the run but I was having fun in the fast lane. If I were a young single NFL star, home at 3:30am in the off season would mean I was tired of a string of 3:30 am jaunts. Of course, I'd have me a chauffeur. Would that make me bad? NO, that would make me pretty damn good at it!:sneaky: But of course, in the south, it is not uncommon for people to start a run early early in the morning to beat the heat. Of course, Blackmon probably wasn't on his way to the track but probably on his way home from running some fine fillies. And someone that makes 7 figures can afford to be eccentric and march to their own drum beat if they please. They rarely fit into the average 9 to 5 domestic slave's box.

Yeah sure. I didn't know his mom posted on here. That's pretty interesting.

You're probably right about his being a non-story if he didn't go to jail.

I have been out at 3:30 in the morning. Maybe he was at the start of an 8 hour road trip and wanted an early start. Maybe he had a flight to catch and was on his way to the airport. All we can do is speculate at this point.
