Well at least Mark Davis and the NFL aren't trying to string along Oakland fans at all like the last rich guy with a bad haircut did.

NHL conferences are already unbalanced, largely because Detroit whined about being in the west and the NHL folded. There's 16 in the East and 14 (now 15) in the West.. They'll look to add another team, my guess is Quebec City, but maybe Seattle.. If it is Quebec, then Columbus will likely move to the West.

In terms of Vegas, they're going to be picking a bunch of crap players in the expansion draft, so it's not like they're going to be that competitive for a while.

teams have to protect players with NMC, NTC. teams are manipulating their lineups (leaving players in ahl, juniors) to take advantage of ELC's as well. teams like the penguins can only protect one goalie. murray or fleury ? one reason why teams are trading goalies recently.
they are being setup to be successful from day 1. there will be no "tough years" like atlanta, minnesota, columbus, nashville. the guaranteed lottery spot is fine IF they didnt make the playoffs. the next question is how will they treat the next franchise after that ?[/QUOTE]

Raiders won’t leave Oakland until 2019 at the earliest

Regardless of whether the Raiders ultimately move to Las Vegas, they won’t be leaving Oakland until 2019.

Via Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com, owner Mark Davis said that the team will continue to play at the Oakland Coliseum through 2018.

“We want to bring a Super Bowl championship back to the Bay Area,” Davis said.

That sounds a lot better than, “We got nowhere else to go.” That statement is more true than what Davis said; otherwise, he would stay in Oakland until at least one more Lombardi Trophy is secured.

The Raiders have one-year options at the Coliseum for 2017 and 2018, allowing them to stay put while their new stadium in Las Vegas is built. This allows them to try to time the move to the completion of the stadium, allowing the Raiders to avoid having to find temporary space in Las Vegas or elsewhere while the building is completed.

Unless approval to move is secured quickly, the Raiders ultimately may need another year or two in Oakland beyond 2018. That could make the negotiations on an extended lease a little awkward, with the powers-that-be in Oakland possibly tempted either to drive a hard bargain or to tell the Raiders to get lost if/when the Raiders realize that their Las Vegas home wouldn’t be ready until 2019 or later.

I truly believe this will be good for the NFL and Mark Davis as he's been looking for someone to buy him a stadium for a while.

There are some tools where you can go through team by team and protect players and then do a simulated draft. There's not going to be tons of star power, most teams are going to dangle bad contracts in hopes that the player gets picked.
