He's not hurt...he's PAID...
Was going to say something similar. I'm actually starting to wonder if since he got paid, he's not trying as hard. He isn't the same this year. And please don't say it's because Long isn't playing the the other side. He's not beating simple 1-on-1's.

The man is getting grabbed every time he goes around the edge, and for whatever reason it seems the refs have been told to completely stop calling holding on the offensive linemen. Its that or they are all going blind

Why am I not surprised...

I'm sure you watched the game, but we must've seen 2 completely different games. I watched as best as I could every time Robert Quinn was in there. The guy was going hard into the teeth of the 49er OL. And almost every time was getting tackled, held, and smacked to the ground. And please, don't say excuses. That's what is really happening. And yet despite all that he still kept going until the final minutes. That doesn't resemble a guy who isn't trying hard.

Honestly, I know we are all frustrated and upset, but to pull things out of nowhere without any basis for it is ridiculous.

The replays ESPN showed may have been picked but they showed Staley kicking his ass. He is not getting that great first step and low bend around the corner. And it is the same move every play. Maybe his coaching this year but you can;t keep taking a deep outside rush with no variance in technique and expect to be successful in the NFL

I said I'm starting to wonder. I don't know what's going on. He's not being held on every play like you seem to think. He was held just as much last year, if not more, and he still managed to get sacks and much more pressure. With all the exotic blitzes being called, something should have hit by now. And my comments relate to the season as a whole- not just this game. Maybe he's injured? Something isn't right, though. I don't think Quinn is the kind of person that would get paid and coast but the lack of results has me at least starting to look at everything.

*I* could "kick Quinn's ass" if I were allowed to hold with impunity.

Sorry but that just was not happening every play just watch the piece ESPN put together tomorrow Staley handled him. We would love to see Long playing like that.

He has been getting pressure, just not the sacks. And it's not that he's being held this year or last. It's the blatant, terrible no-calls that bug me. Being headlocked into the ground is a no call. That's absurd.

And again, I have no idea where your starting to get that idea of not trying hard. The games I've seen him couldn't be further from that.

It was happening pretty much every play I saw.

If Long did it, he'd be getting called every single play for it.

I'm looking at all possibilities at this point. I don't agree that it's just non-calls by the refs. It's more likely that it's the scheme or coaching than effort but even then something should have happened by now. I have no idea what's going on but I'm pretty sure the holding and calls by the refs haven't changed much from last year. There's something else going on.

You got to be kidding me. So what about the other guys on our DL we only have a sack. No excuses

What I saw after rewatching the Eagles game was Jason Peters false starting almost every pass play. I don't know that he was called for it more than once. Staley also got away with the same a few times today.

Seems like Williams really dared them to beat us with the pass today and our back end just wasn't prepared.

Hayes wasn't having much better luck either. Dude actually had his jersey torn up front by the armpit from his pads/jersey being grabbed and yanked

I'm just tired of all the excuses. 1 sack in 5 games the worse EVER in the NFL. There is holding ever week on great players and they get it done in spite of the holds.
