Are you sure we'll even have that much in dead money? I though the 3 mil was a roster bonus for him being on the active roster at year end, but I'm maybe thinking of something he was due last year. Either way, a lot of Jake Long money is coming off our cap number next year.
An ESPN article at the time of signing noted he could be cut in 2015 for the 2.something million number. Probably just prorated signing bonus.

According to Rotoworld, he had a $5 million signing bonus, so half would count for 2015 if (when) he's cut. The guaranteed money otherwise was in the first two seasons of the contract, so that's over. Cutting him would save $9.25 million in salary. That should more than pay to sign Barksdale - likely with cash to spare. They do need a swing tackle, preferably a veteran - but that shouldn't be that expensive.
