Raiders at Rams

There were some encouraging signs earlier in the week, but the Raiders have ruled out running back Latavius Murray (concussion). Safety Jonathan Dowling (back), cornerback Carlos Rogers (knee) and cornerback Neiko Thorpe (hand) have also been ruled out and guard Gabe Jackson (knee) is questionable.

Rams cornerback Marcus Roberson (ankle), while defensive tackle Alex Carrington (thigh) and safety Lamarcus Joyner (groin) are both questionable. The Rams have not activated defensive end Chris Long (ankle) from injured reserve and will make a call on his status this weekend.

It's too bad that Joyner has been injured this long. I really wanted to see his progression.

Rams' decision on Chris Long coming soon
By Nick Wagoner

http://espn.go.com/blog/st-louis-rams/post/_/id/14152/decision-on-chris-long-coming-soon

EARTH CITY, Mo. -- The official word hasn't come yet, but all signs still point toward defensive end Chris Long returning to the St. Louis Rams Sunday against the Oakland Raiders.

Of course, until the Rams make it official, that's mostly informed speculation, but Rams coach Jeff Fisher said Long looked good in Friday's practice. That should bode well for Long's status as he waits to be activated from the injured reserve/designated to return list.

"He's close," Fisher said Friday. "I think he had his best day of practice today, so we're going to discuss it this afternoon and if we make a decision, we'll probably make a decision tomorrow."

Because the Rams will have to make a corresponding move to create space for Long, activating him would almost certainly mean making a move in time for Saturday's waiver cycle. They have until 4 p.m. ET to do it.

Long has spent plenty of time lobbying anyone who will listen the past couple of weeks and has been practicing regularly this week.

"Lobbying or torturing?" Rams defensive coordinator Gregg Williams said, laughing. "That's the fun part is he loves to play and wants to play and he brutalized me last week because he didn't get to play. He's doing well."

Elsewhere, despite having 14 players on the injury report, the Rams figure to have almost all of them available against the Raiders.

Here's the full breakdown of Friday's injury report:

Doubtful: CB Marcus Roberson (ankle).

Questionable: DT Alex Carrington (thigh), CB Lamarcus Joyner (groin).

Probable: WR Kenny Britt (back), TE Jared Cook (back), LB James Laurinaitis (ankle), LB Alec Ogletree (illness), DE Robert Quinn (not injury related), C Scott Wells (not injury related), RG Davin Joseph (not injury related), CB E.J. Gaines (knee), DE Eugene Sims (not injury related), TE Cory Harkey (thigh), LB Will Herring (foot).

So, is Latavius Murray for sure ruled out? If so, I'm glad we won't have to face him & watch another up-and-coming RB run all over us. See: Murray, Demarco.
