Wonder how many have taken Cipro or Levaquin before....can be very bad for ligaments....made my achilles tendon feel like it was gonna snap....

Black box warning on it....
  • Fluoroquinolones are associated with an increased risk of tendinitis and tendon rupture. This risk is further increased in those over age 60, those on concomitant steroid therapy, as well as inkidney, heart, and lung transplant recipients. The fluoroquinolone should be discontinued if the patient experiences pain or inflammation in a tendon (symptoms that may precede rupture of the tendon), or tendon rupture. Advise patients, at the first sign of tendon pain, swelling, or inflammation, to stop taking the fluoroquinolone, to avoid exercise and use of the affected area, and to promptly contact their healthcare provider about changing to a non-fluoroquinolone antimicrobial drug.

problem is tears happen up to a year after taking the antibiotics... most never associate the injuries with the medicine...FDA in last year added warning about drug when used in athletes....

Lions punter Sam Martin missed the first six games of the season, and it appears he may have been conked out by a conch.

According to Justin Rogers of the Detroit News, two sources said the mysterious injury was caused when Martin either stepped on or dropped a conch shell on his foot.

Martin’s ankle was injured sufficiently that he wasn’t able to participate in training camp at all. It apparently stemmed from a vacation in the Bahamas, though Martin declined to confirm the story.

He joked earlier this week about all the things he wasn’t doing to cause the injury, including skateboarding and cliff diving. He also said he couldn’t blame his dog for it, just saying it was a “freak accident.”

Martin finally returned to the field last weekend, after spending the start of the season on the non-football injury list.

Not that anyone should feel sorry for Sam Bradford - as he has been very well compensated thru his career, but I do feel sorry for him. The talent was there - his body just didn't cooperate.

I wonder if anyone will ever go #1 overall coming off a season ending injury again.

Damn those conch shells. They’re decimating the league.
