I'm having a hard time *not* applying for this job

How hard would it be to move back if you were to take the job? Obviously you couldn't pack up and leave after a month, but a year or two?

I dunno man, it's a pretty tricky situation for you, I think it'll just take some time and reflection. Maybe try not to overthink it and go with what your gut says?

Moving back is expensive and a pain in the balls because I'd have to drive another 27 hours with my dogs and have a moving company bring all my shit back + my other car. My gut is telling me two things and I just can't figure out what to do. I'm just kinda hoping that one of these jobs forces me to take one or the other somehow.

I get the "adventure" thing. I've always been drawn to that sort of thing. But if you have what you want already, and you can make it with what you have, you have everything you need.

Yeah, that's true. I think that part of me is winning over the other part of me that always wants a little more.
I sold my business because ambition was turning me into a workaholic and nothing else was fun. Now I'm just kinda enjoying life.

Tough decision!

I've twice moved more than 1,000 miles for my work. Each time I was excited to experience living in another part of the world. I'd do it again if the situation required it.

I was fortunate in both cases to be provided professional movers. That made that part easy.... But... A couple of things to think about;

1) You will want to budget money to travel to see family and to help them travel to see you.

2) While moving your furniture sounds simple enough, inevitably you're new home will require a retooling and new purchases.

From my experience, those two examples above, will eat into some cash.

But... Sounds like fun to me!

And I have almost no memories of the first 3 years of my kids lives...

Whatever choice you make, just know that the time that they are kids is time you never get back. Well, you never get any of it back, but you can't make up for time missed. I'm painfully aware of this as due to my migraines, I miss a lot of concerts and recitals and what not. I'll never ever get another shot at those.

Money is a means to an end, it's not the end. When you really just sit down and focus on what's important, the answer should reveal itself.
