1) Run defense (obviously)

I think this will correct itself. Most of Foster's big yardage came on cutback's. Our defense is young and they over-pursue. This will be corrected as they get more experience. Not worried about it.

2) Usage of DR

This one still has me shaking my head. Apart from the well executed screen pass what the hell is Shotty doing with DR? Why does he continue to insist upon running DR right up the middle? DR's biggest asset is his breakaway speed, and when you run him right into the guards back you waste it completely. Use Stacy like you did SJax last year and use DR as the change of pace guy who gets 5 or 6 toss plays a game. Hell they don't even have to be tosses, you could just run him off tackle. Anything other than what they've been doing would be great.

I'll add one; Tavon Austin needs to be creatively worked into game plans.

You don't land the most dynamic offensive player in the 2013 draft and use him just 4 times. Schotty needs to get this guy on the field in different ways than he has been. My hope is... that's why we didn't see Tavon... they are working on new things in practice and its not game-ready.

This is the biggest head scratcher. In the past the Rams have used the excuse that they've been behind but for once we take control of a game and they still don't do anything with him.

1) Agree

2) Agree. I don't get it. Shouldn't you keep running successful plays until they figure out how to stop you instead of running failed plays over and over and over hoping for success?!?!? This is happening game after game after game. Last week against the Jaguars they ran an entire series DR up the middle for 3 and out! If you can't run DR up the middle against the Jags successfully, you CAN'T run DR up the middle!

3) They throw to Givens in the flat with a play designed with blocking to get him open, but call a play for TA with no blocking. What?!? If that Givens play had been TA, he would explode on them. Instead, he's surrounded the second he catches it. I just don't get the poor use of TA.

The team in general looked very good and I have revived hopes that things will continue to get better.

1) Agree, it is concerning at times but our D seems to tighten against the run as the game progresses.

2) On the surface it seems stupid to keep trying DR inside but Schotty may still do this to not be too predictable. I mean if every time you put DR in the game, you go perimeter and every time you put Zac in you run up the gut, it will show up on film.

3) The use of Tavon seems puzzling when you put him out in space with no blocking but we have to realize that teams are accounting for our blazing rookie and he is more of a decoy at the moment because we can't seem to shake him free and to constantly feed him for 2 and 3 yard gains stunts our O. I agree creativity is needed here and maybe he should be lined up in the backfield more often in a two-back set and develop plays for him from there. I'd also like to see him hit on a quick slant just once in space!

What can they do with him in the 3 TE sets they've been rolling out. Could they not just motion him all over that formation to get different looks from the D?

Even into the backfield. Running to Kendricks side off tackle with Harkey lead blocking should be enough for him to squirt through to the second level where he can use his joy sticks to make LBs and safeties miss.

They could change the entire potential of the offense. If they used TA more creatively and successfully, every other facet of the O would benefit. The kid is beyond awesome when he's used well. It wouldn't take much.

9 games in and were looking for ways to get Tavon a few plays? Um.... not good.

so tired of DR.. clearly has been lacking vision the past few games.

I wish Pead would be a given a shot. Only RB who hasn't started a game for us yet

Well, Sam was quoted saying they came out of preseason expecting to run more of a spread offense. After 4 games of suckage, Fisher proclaimed they would get the running game going... and as a result we have gone HEAVY TE and incorporated more physical running with success.

One could argue they had plays for Tavon in the "spread-like" offense, but hadn't worked on much in the run-TE-heavy offense?

:idk:

I don't get it either. He must have stepped in some serious pile of s%&t to be neglected the way he has. His potential is still high IMO.

I am still highly disappointed in one thing about the broadcast yesterday...

The camera men should have pointed their cameras directly at the pink shorts the cheerleaders were wearing much more often and zoomed in for tighter shots in between plays. Those things were making my mouth water.

If they had done this I'd have to pay a homeless dude to stand next to my tv with a squeegee

I would say you probably are pretty close to accurate, if not dead on.

Isaiah must have really pissed off somebody important, 'cause he just ain't seeing the field, much less the rock. I think he should be the perfect foil to Zac, the lightning to the thunder. Both pass block better than the other two RB's, and Isaiah has better hands out of the backfield than everyone else not named Tavon. Unlike DRich, Isaiah is willing and eager to juke his way around a sealed hole.

So, what gives?

You know, we could be in for a big surprise later on in the season just when teams have been beat up and have tired legs and BAM, fresh legged Pead hits the scene all coached up from behind the curtain! That would be awesome no?

Run D and lack of Tavon Austin bothers me. We gotta find ways to get him the ball other than being a punt return specialist. 1 rec, 3 yards. And only played like 4 plays isn't why we traded up for him.
