Mixed feelings.

On one hand, glad the 49ers didn't get him.

On the other hand, that almost certainly means the Browns will take a QB at #4.

Edit: Just saw a comment on Profootballtalk.com: "What a mighty fall for the 49ers, where the Brown’s job is a much more attractive option." :) :) :)

I'm sure they would have anyway, and that franchise is so dysfunctional, it's not even funny. I don't envision a long tenure there.

The niners are the leaders in the clubhouse when it comes to being dis functional. When you jettison a coach like harbaugh for a guy like Tomsula, you are setting standards that will be hard to match.

I agree, they are too. I don't know how to quantify the levels of dysfunction, but the Browns hired a baseball analytics guy (Moneyball) to make final decisions on personnel. Sound a little familiar?

BTW, congrats on your co-championship in Pick Em, that was hard this year.

Reports say Hue Jackson will move on from Manziel
Posted by Zac Jackson on January 13, 2016

The new of Hue Jackson becoming head coach of the Browns had barely started making its way through the Twittersphere Wednesday when Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports 1 tweeted that he’s been told Jackson “made it clear” in his discussions with the Browns that he wanted the team to move on from Johnny Manziel.

The No. 22 pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, Manziel showed on-field progress in 2015 for the Browns but has been an off-field disaster.

A big part of the reason Jackson becomes the Browns’ eighth full-time coach since the team’s return to the league in 1999 is the Browns really haven’t had a quarterback in 25 years, at least not one who played well for more than a couple months at a time.

Though Garafolo was simply tweeting what had been passed to him through either a source at the Browns or someone close to Jackson, Manziel has been polarizing and disappointing enough that it’s easy to believe a discussion of his status would have been a key part of the interview process. The Browns held a second interview with Jackson on Tuesday, and in accepting the job Wednesday he decided not to wait for a scheduled Thursday interview with the Giants.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network later sent a tweet echoing Garafolo’s, saying he expects the Browns to move on from Manziel.

The Browns have the No. 2 pick in the 2016 draft and also have quarterbacks Josh McCown, Austin Davis and Connor Shaw under contract as they go forward.

Yep. The Browns were always going to take a QB. When you're up that high that's what you do when one is there, unless you have a young, franchise guy in hand.

I haven't been able to smile at all today... but the thought that Hue picked the Browns over the whiners has me like :ROFLMAO:

Hopefully they give him more time than the Raiders did. He's a good coach. I'd like to see the Browns win that division so I can laugh at all my Steelers fan friends.

Great Hire by Cleveland and now the Browns will be much better for it. Solid Head Coach who has had one year experience as a Head Coach and he went 8-8. If he goes 8-8 in Cleveland next year, he will be coach of the year and a candidate for Governor.

He will draft Goff and be considered a genius head coach for the next decade or more. No QB=no genius

He can't take more than one QB with that second pick - whatever they do it'll be the wrong move - so if he picks Goff we'll take Wentz, Lynch, or Cook

Jackson took the lesser of two evils - SF or Cleveland

Thanks DR RAM, appreciate it. The Browns? I wouldn't know where to start to try and fix that mess.

Brilliant move by the Browns. Hue could be their Arians. I think he'll be an excellent HC for them. Can't believe the Browns were the team smart enough to hire him.

I don't know if this is a lock. Hue might opt to make a trade for a veteran. But he's definitely going to look to bring in a new QB.

I didn't think Cle had a chance in hell to hire him with all the attention he's getting. Maybe they offered alot more money or he wanted to stay in the general area.Either way its a good hire for them and I'm glad he passed on the whiners.

I certainly hope he opts for a veteran.
