I usually stop reading anything once it starts with the "fairness" mantra. Like you said, it's a brainwashing attempt for the joys of socialism/communism/marxism. All three deserve to die.

Then what would our schools teach then?

I wrote a song about it. Want to hear it? Here it goes.

Indoctrination

Teacher's merry dance of wit
Caressing young prodigy well
Ignites young son so lit
To speak, write, and spell.

Professor's poesy plucks the string
Which tugs at youthful thought
Injects the venom of the sting
That brings the wisdom sought.

Mentor's meddling in the brain
Flushes variance down the flume
Leaving regimen as the stain
That pollinates the youthful bloom.

Well they are such great fairy tales to sell to the young and inexperienced and such a great vehicle to power over them by the older more experienced power brokers they will never die, some people never do give the fairy tale up. But again it's difficult for me to imagine that nearly every family in Ukraine doesn't have a family member still living that was a near casualty or had a close family member they knew who died.
Then again the memory of our Great Depression is hardly reflected in today's youth or even my generation, I suppose pain and suffering are just too abstract to convey to people who've never known real hunger and destitution except as a vehicle to bolstering self concept "because you care".

Inlet Harbor was the place. I love the way that place is buried from the main drag. You think you are lost wandering through residential areas to get to it. Of course, I'm sure it's a total different view coming in from the water. Yeah, I know I need to pick up the phone more often. :notworthy:

That place is really cool. They have very large gas tiki torches all the way around their docks that are fired up every night. Love their Bar and huge outside eating area. My crew and I have stumbled into that place off the boat on many an occasion. Great sunset views. They get some really good bands in there,,, some big names too.

Much easier and faster to get there by boat.

It was civilian rather than military so the focus was more on exploration and knowledge rather than weapons and defense.

That being said, this wasn't a NASA study, and they do not agree with the conclusion. The study was done by a totally different group who used a NASA sponsored HANDY (Human And Nature DYnamics) model, which offers up different earth models and drew their own conclusions. NASA has nothing to do with this.

Besides the conclusion is nothing you wouldn't learn from any Aristotle class. Big happy middle class = stable country. It doesn't take a genius to know that a Plutocracy isn't a stable form of government, but to act like the US is only a few decades away from that is dumb. I would agree that if the US were to collapse, or civilization as we know it were to end that's probably more likely than a war type situatuon.... but not anytime soon.

I'd enjoy a NASA sponsored handy. It would be inspirational.

I read this and found it plausible. It could very well happen.
A LOT of things "could happen" , but this is Social Science from an agency that is supposed to be focused on Physical Science and FWIW all those primitive ,and they were primitive societies collapsed before the information age
I've posted this video several times in various places before,I think it's time once again to listen to the wisdom of Matt Ridley:

If ANYTHING destroys society it will be the inhibition of free trade and free markets.

No, "exchange" will just morph into new forms, which is what's happening now with the technical revolution. Trade in these new forms will grow, not retard.

By the way, here's some interesting work to support what Riddley is talking 'bout...
