Practice Report: QB Hill (thigh) misses second day of work

• By Jim Thomas

Quarterback Shaun Hill didn't practice for the second day in a row, with backup Austin Davis once again getting the lion's share of the reps with the starting offense Thursday at Rams Park.

Friday is the last full-scale practice of the week prior to Sunday's game at Tampa Bay, but offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer said it's possible Hill could start even if he doesn't practice this week.

"If he's ready to go (health-wise), we have no problem that he can got out there and perform well," Schottenheimer said.

"Dealing with a veteran guy, he's been dialed in on everything (in practice). We actually make him call the plays to the other quarterbacks in a lot of the walk-throughs and stuff that we do."

Hill suffered a strained thigh in the first half of the Rams' season-opening loss to Minnesota.

Schottenheimer said No. 3 quarterback Case Keenum, who was claimed off waivers from the Houston Texans last week, is making progress in learning the offense.

"He's doing a good job," Schottenheimer said. "He's an early-morning guy. He beats the coaches in here most days. We're here later than he is, but he's in early, working hard."

INJURY UPDATE

Other than Hill, the only other Rams listed on Thursday's injury report are nickel back Lamarcus Joyner (back) who did not practice, as well as CB Trumaine Johnson (knee) and C/G Barrett Jones (back) who will be out for a few more weeks.

For Tampa Bay, starters G Logan Mankins (knee), RB Doug Martin (knee), and DE Adrian Clayborn (elbow) were limited Thursday. Starting DE Michael Johnson (ankle) and TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins (ankle) did not practice.

UNIFORM CHANGE

The Rams unveiled new practice uniforms this week featuring a lighter shade of blue.

"During camp, I figured I might just make a change, brighten it up a little bit," coach Jeff Fisher said. "We hoped to get them in last week _ we didn't. But just for something different, a little change."

I'm not so sure that this is a good thing to play Hill without any practice....Looks like a cover and Davis starts...I actually like Davis better than Hill, and Davis had me nervous the entire 3rd quarter....Just looked like deer in headlights...He should settle down and look more like the preseason Davis of 2012 & 2014...I like that one.

Start Hekker! Keep the Bucs of balance by never knowing when our QB will haul off and kick the crap out of the ball!

And who knows. He might be a good QB too.
The next Danny White.

Keenum should be getting the reps not Davis. Keenum has potential. The Rams should be developing it. If not why did they get him. I can't believe he is the #3 QB right now.

I can't believe it either.. Let's compare QB's from college..

I actually think that Tebow would be more effective right now than anyone else on the Rams roster. Just stay in the wildcat the whole game!
But more realistically Sanchez would probably be our best bet for instant QB play in Shotty's offense.

Tim Tebow is going to be busy doing Good Morning America. I think this shows how well people in the NFL view his football skills/knowledge.

It doesn't matter if he does or not. We're either gonna block or we're gonna do whatever we did last week.

I'm not sure a guy who hasn't started a game since 2010 can sit out a whole week of practice and be ready to play on Sunday. He needs snaps
