Because I think he'd be a nice fit with this team as OC...

First the hand wringing over changing the offense is overdone. Nowadays all offenses borrow from each other and terminology is not a big deal for an offense provided the OC is a great teacher. Shanny certainly is, and the Rams have the WR talent to run a lot of aggressive slants and to provide strong blocking in his scheme. Under an OC of his ability we would see the talent this offense has.

Second his preference on the OL, which is mobile blockers that can seal and stretch a defensive line, doesn't really matter since the Rams need to reload the OL anyway. And the Rams have a couple pieces who fit nicely in GRob and Saffold who are mobile yet also enormous and extremely powerful run blockers.

Third he always produces a top-notch running attack. Rams have a stable of excellent RBs who will shine in his offense, all of whom are physical and good at one-cut and go type of approach. The running game is also where this offense is most disappointing to Fish, I can say that with absolute certainty and it is why I believe he will make a change at OC.

Lastly the Rams will be drafting a QB. Having Schotty serve as the offensive lead in coaching up a new franchise signal caller would be an enormous mistake. It would be like a redshirt year where he serves as waterboy in terms of what that QB would learn.

I've said it before and I'll say it again... If Fish keeps Schotty he will be fired after next season when the offense stinks yet again. Here's hoping he makes the tough call and brings in an option like Chud, Martz, Shanny, etc or even a collegiate creative mind like Frost to ensure this offense finally starts to put it all together.

I would be surprised if the Jets weren't already talking to him. Even without a GM in place

When I cant argue with you about needing a new OC I don't think Fisher is done with Schotty until we have the same results next season and then it'll be time to get a new OC.

Yes that is my fear. I want to see Fish succeed here, and I just don't believe it's going to happen if he keeps Schotty.

With no changes if we enter next season with Sam Bradford, this outstanding defense, and an improved OL we are looking at 9+ wins in my opinion. But I want more than that, I want a deep playoffs competitive team that can win this division and strike terror in opponents when they have to come play in a rocking indoor venue in the playoffs.

Schotty is average at best, that change needs to happen to ensure we see the success we have hoped for under Fish, IMO.

Can't say I disagree bro. 3 things we need to shore up o be a better team.

1. OC
2. QB prospect/depth
3. OL, OL, OL depth

I think if we were to get those two taken care of we'd be set TBH.

With the money Snider threw at him he doesn't need to take an OC job

I wouldn't mind him landing a HC job, hopefully if he does, he makes his 1st big move on the team by giving us 3 1st round picks for our 10th pick.

But would he do it just to pal around with his buddy Jeff Fisher?
That's a good question. I think he'd join Fisher in STL, and obviously Fish is willing to get rid of people so he can bring his friends in (not that Shanahan isn't qualified, he for damn sure is)

Thanks for this great thread. Shanahan would be fantastic in St. Louis and he is a huge Bradford fan and wanted him badly in Washington. Offer him whatever he wants to become the new offensive coordinator for the St. Louis Rams. Just think of the irony if he ends up in St. Louis and wins a Super Bowl. I sure hope this happens.

His offense looked good until RG3 got hurt. I'd be willing to give him a look if it came down to it.

I agree with your over-all statement, but I'm not sure 'Shanny' would be interested!

I have reserved my opinion on 'Shotty' until now. I wanted to see how the season plated out! I believe his play calling, to be polite, leaves a lot to be desired! even considering the O-Line he's had! He doesn't have "IT"! I'd root for Martz or "Shanny" in that order!

It's not the money, I don't think he's done with Football, And I think he would come back for a team he thought had a lot of potential!

But would he do it just to pal around with his buddy Jeff Fisher?
It would be Nice!

I hear you on that Dave. I'd have to say the chances us landing Martz are a lot better than Shanny! lol No way I think Shanny would take a OC position. I pray I'm wrong though... Imagine what Martz would do with Tavon, Studman, Quick and Brit? OMFG!! And I'm positive he'd be able to find us a good QB through evaluation to at least tide us over ( A Bulger type at the very least). First things first though.... can't run his system with shit offensive linemen! lol Long, Wells, Joseph are all gone regardless who takes over or is in charge IMHO. Time has passed them all by and are a money pit.

I'll start worrying over who the next OC will be when I hear our current one is leaving. I have not heard ANYTHING indicating that Fisher shares the opinion of some of us regarding Schotty in the slightest.

I highly doubt he takes an OC gig. I wouldn't mind his son however.

Shanahan will end up with the Bears to fix Cutler.
