Damn, this episode was emotional. Seriously, the feels were turned way up.

Great episode, probably my favorite hard knocks I've ever seen. Biased cause I'm a rams fan, but I feel like it ought to hold up for any fan of the show.

I know the human drama is part of what makes the show successful, but they are setting us up for a fall. We get to see those cute little girls and their admirable mothers as their whole world crashes when Daddy gets cut from the team.

Tree is built a lot like Singeltary was. They are both undersized for a typical mlb slightly and rely on speed. A lot is riding on this transition to MLB being successful and they brought in one of the best in history to be a personal tutor. Hopefully it pays off.
It is great having Singletary as a resource, but I think he and AO are very different players. Agree with you both are undersized, but in different ways -- AO is an athletic freak and is tall & lanky, Singletary was "too short" but built like a fire hydrant. The huge difference between them is Singletary had ridiculous instincts for reading the game, where AO isn't great at reads yet, but his superior athletic ability makes up for his bad reads. I don't know if instincts like Singletary had can be taught, but whatever hints and cheats he can pass on to help AO read the game will be awesome, because that's all he's missing to be a great MLB.

To me the guy that looks like Singletary (in appearance only) out there is Chubb.

If you watch this episode of Hard Knocks again, watch the Technic Singletary is teaching in Class and on the Field. I think this type of stuff coming from an All Pro Hall of Famer is Priceless!!
I think Singletary is a great addition to the Coaching Staff, a real difference maker!!

Did you see how quick Singletarys feet are, at his age, unfucking believable. I dont think any of the current Rams LBs can do that drill any faster than Singletary.

I like how he's discretely fitting in as one of the coaches. He seems to be getting the respect of the players and if those young LB's get on board with his teachings, there could be some major improvement in their abilities early in the season. A great hiring by Fisher :yess:

Man when I'm watching this show a hour just flies by, but at work it drags on. Love getting to see all the little stuff with our coaches and players.

GW : "Now you're sayin, 'there it is , Gregg's being a dick again'. No, I'm trying to figure out how I can help you make this f-in team"

Can't believe they're still yucking it up about that go-kart accident with Britt and Quick. Wow. I'm still of the belief that those 2 clowns should be held accountable and set a better example as 2 of the older vets on the offense. That's some 7-9 shit.

My favorite material by far is everything with the coaches, their conversations, their discussions and the drills.
I can honestly do without all the other stuff. It's extremely produced, like all reality bullshit television is. I just don't get into all that.

Ogletree seems to be stressed about the new leadership role on defense. Almost like he doesn't really want it. You can definitely see the difference in that locker room from when Long and JL were here.

I liked both of those guys, but whatever leadership they provided, didn't translate into a Top 10 defense. I like seeing Ogletree upset over TD's allowed early. Maybe James L and Long also got upset about similar things, but I never saw it. I do remember the pie in face BS that one year that all of the defense thought was so cute, and the horrible season that happened afterwards...

Ya but is any of it registering? On the bag drill AO is high and his back is bowed, instead of getting low by getting the hips down and back straight. That's the little things that are gonna drive Singletary nuts because those tiny details that become habits win in the game. And when Singletary is giving him a pep talk he's just replying "I got you" and "Yes, sir", the stuff kids say when they aren't really listening but just trying to get the conversation over.

Yet then you see AO trying to help Chubb with his technique and pissed off in the game, so some of it seems to be getting through. Right now the big thing looks like his play calls, guys don't seem to be listening so don't trust what he's calling out there yet or something. I really liked his angry attitude after giving up a TD, looked like Quinn was trying to give him the "it doesn't matter it's preseason" but AO was having none of it.

Ogletree is not a MLBer. He is not built like one and doesn't have the instincts or mentality of one. Doesn't have the leadership of one.

Square peg in round hole. Coaches can yell all they want: they need to yell at themselves for not respecting the game. A MLB is a different breed. Alec is a OLB and a great one.

Where is the backup plan if this project fails?

I actually liked that a lot. He doesn't seem to put up with the bullshit but at the same time you have to remain calm as well. Although they did make them punt on the next drive so maybe it worked. We're the starters in there when Maclin scored the TD?

And we all have to wait and see how this New Leadership effects the teams bottom line, Wins and Losses, at the end of the Season!
But it all looks good so far!!

And Williams jumped all over the "D" Player for not listening to Tree, and told them to F-ing listen to his commands!!
