Wrt the run game if you look at McVay's production in Washington that was probably the most widely heard knock on him, as the Skins finished 21st in rushing yards per game at 106.0, which isn't too good. But looking at the stats they were actually very efficient with 4.5 yards per carry, which tied them for 7th in the league.

Their biggest issue was in truth their terrible red zone efficiency, where only 45.9% of their red zone trips resulted in TDs. That placed them 30th in the league and below the Rams believe it or not. One interesting thing here is that the Skins converted 58.49% in 2015 which was good for a solid ranking of 11th in the league.

Red zone efficiency was quite poor, but that might also be attributed to having their primary WR's being among the shortest in the league. Garcon, Jackson & Crowder, with only Garcon reaching 6'0". Adding Doctson & Pryor to the starting line-up this season should improve red-zone play, but losing Garcon & Jackson may take a toll on overall reception percentage, ... on that we'll just have to wait & see.

Those were Fisher's words not Gurley's.

He would know, wouldn't he? 20+ years experience familiarizing himself with player conditioning and weigh ins. Gurley was just a kid going through his first full offseason. He's not a veteran in that aspect.

Weight loss was never an issue for him at Georgia

And it doesn't matter either. The diet and workout routine of a college player vs NFL player is not close to similar. For someone to reshape their body their first couple years in the league is not only common, it's expected.

We may never know if it was disappointment in his OL, WR's or coaching staff, or all of the above

His term "middle school offense" seems to suggest he didn't like the offensive coaching. :rolllaugh:

True.
However weight loss particularly unintended weight loss would almost always be a negative.

Well that is true. I'll still believe the team quit on Fisherat 1/2 time of Saints game.

I had to LMAO as Asshole Face would talk crap to D. Williams after each score.

The blocking scheme & game planming were horrible. Fisher was a control freak as well.Glad it's over .

And Don't forget.... shortly after our first loss of the 2016 season, (1st game) a blow out to The 9ers.... there were reports out of SF.....that the players knew all our offensive plays and they knew what play we were going to run as we lined up.... if this was true.... then explained alot.... especially in that game. But it would also explain the regression of almost every single offensive player in 2016.

Go Rams...... ;)

When you work out you gain muscle mass. Gurley did NOT gain muscle mass ... he LOST it So if he was working out like crazy, he may have lost weight, but he wouldn't have lost the muscle mass. That happens when you DON'T work out.

Not entirely true. When you lift, you're either lifting to Bulk, Cut, or Maintain.

If you run too much and don't lift... going above your target heart rate, your body can turn into a Catabolic state. Which means your body eats muscle for energy, effectively losing muscle mass and getting skinnier.

Todd Gurley, if he looked smaller last year, could have been running too much and not focusing on his target heart rate and lifting routines.

@ReddingRam is right on point about the Hollywood angle and IMHO, it came too easy for Gurley in his rookie year and all the accolades that followed as well. Whereas you only have to look at the Chargers Marlon Gordon and see the improvement from year one to year two and see how he improved dramatically.

Gurley is getting back to basics and the addition of Whitworth and John Sullivan at Center will benefit Gurley as well. Offensive Line Coach Aaron Kromer is renown for having dramatic improvements in the running game and I believe that will be the strength of the Ram offense in 2017.
Coach , I love your kool-aid.

I'm glad his off-season conditioning is impressing, it's not like he's a professional sportsman earning millions or anything... It's time to show what he's capable of now.

As long as his Regular Season performance is impressive, he can eat burgers, drink beer and sit by the pool all day during the off-season, as long as he raises his performance on game day - thats all I care about.

Very true....There is a state of "over-training" where the muscle is lost....Gurley probably was in a catabolic state...to little rest or nutrients is the usual cause. He needs to be in an anabolic state....probably needs a nutritionist....sure he had one...but he should have notice the weight loss, and adjusted his workout & rest schedules accordingly. Nobody wants to lose 10-15 lbs....when you're 20 years old....and already pretty ripped. Weight loss....in a conditioned athlete is always a slight or severe muscle loss. JMO

Historically speaking, Gurley is at his absolute best when he's between 225-230 pounds. That's what he was his Junior year at Georgia and his rookie year in the NFL. At that weight he's big enough to pull through arm tackles and fast enough to burst through the line and run away from the defense. I think he was too light last year. From recent pictures I've seen he's looking a lot more like he did his Junior year at UGA, even a bit bigger. I'm expecting a bigger, more pissed off TG3 this year.

I think lack of a running game killed them in the redzone, but the unsuccessful fades they threw (to, as you said, smaller receivers) are also a running joke with Redskins fans.
