I counted 9 passes at 9 yards of more. That's almost 33%. Many passes where hitting players in stride which allowed for some good YAC. The ball was spread a little more right for the right hand Goff but, close to even. A few deeper passes but, the Rams and Goff took what was give with less risk. An effective WCO.

Still cracks me the hell up that the ball getting knocked out of Higbee's hands is a drop in peoples minds. But I've been told big time players make that play yet every Pro Bowl WR and Hall of Fame WR has had it happen to them multiple times yet Higbee sucks for it.

I don't get it either. For fucks sake it was clear as could be on the replay. It wasn't a drop.

in agreement...was a pretty good defensive play

That's an understatement it was a perfect play, the timing and strip were perfect. It was textbook.

But where are all the red dots?

Really cool to see. I'd say that is spreading the ball around. This seems to define strength in the passing game. It's not like we were picking on a certain defender or we had one go to guy. And you could see Goff survey the options and simply deliver a very catchable ball to the best one.

I don't want to get too over the top about us being able to execute like this against the whiners but this is the NFL and there is no such thing as a gimme game. Will our passing game struggle against better teams? Most likely. But this is how you start building. Hopefully they can continue to build in Dallas. Let's make the cowgurlz our bitches.

I have to disagree. If he hadn't double clutched it, he probably catches that ball. That being said, it was tight coverage and a good play by the little tart. I am not ready to toss Higbee because of that. I think he has a pretty bright future and at 6'6" 257, I'd certainly like him on the field opposite Everett. What a 2 TE set that can be.

That one white dot 25 yards up in the middle was the STRIKE to Higbee that was dropped... what a gorgeous throw that was
Yep,aside from the long strike to Watkins,I thought that was the
best pass Goff made.Everett takes that one to the house.IMO.
Just a beautiful pass.

Not wanting him over Goff by any stretch but...... Wow!

Got a feeling somebody is gonna have a really hard time
finding another HC gig.

Certainly appears to be the case.

Amen. That's exactly what I saw. Higbee bobbled it. TEs are paid to make catches in traffic. Higbee's wasn't a difficult catch by TE standards. He has to make that. He's the one WR/TE this year who hasn't been making plays when targeted.

It's bothering me because he was such a talented, sure-handed guy in college. It's really disappointing. If we had Higbee controlling the seam, our offense would be that much more unstoppable.

He will. I just feel it coming. Jared will start feeling more comfortable going over the top and into the middle of the field and this offense is going to be scary good.

No @jrry32 and @RamFan503 that was a fantastic defensive play not a "drop" or whatever. If a Rams DB made that play we would all be happy as fuck.

Go look at it again. That was a fantastic job. The throw was perfect, the defender just made a great play.

Yea, we would be happy as hell. I was happy as hell when Chris Thompson dropped that ball on the arrow route that might have went for a TD. It doesn't make it a great defensive play. I've watched it many times frame by frame. Higbee juggles the ball before the defender gets to his hands. Had Higbee caught it cleanly, the defender wouldn't have separated him from the ball.

He seems to be confident and can make different passes on the sideline, deep and intermediate, and in the middle he's made a few passes but not a ton, however they have been on target. I only remember a handful but I don't remember any bad passes in the middle of the field. But it's is a small sample size from memory.

His delivery is different to different areas of the field, watch the video of all of his passes that someone put together. He has a feeling for the WR's and the situation. It's really excellent. He delivers the ball in an easy to catch fashion.

The deep ball to Watkins in double coverage and the one pass to Woods on the left sideline he just drops into them like an extended screen pass. That kind of touch on long passes like that is not something you see all the time but he does it as a matter of course, it's easy for him to do that. Brees does the same thing.

Other shorter passes fire in on a downward trajectory which is smart. Complete the pass, make the play, get the ball moving forward or get a first down.

The 2nd a 5 to go pass to Watkins is awesome. It's not a missile it's a flat line throw, but with touch.

The pass to Watkins across the middle was also not a rocket but it was perfect.

And that strike to Woods deep in the red zone. Wow.

I think he is comfy throwing anywhere, but maybe McVay likes to put the ball on the edges more. Seems like Cousins did that too.

Not complaining LOL!!!!!

Higbee juggles the ball before the defender gets to his hands. Had Higbee caught it cleanly, the defender wouldn't have separated him from the ball.

We see it differently and I watched frame by frame too.

The defender had his hand in there at the same moment Higbee puts his hands on it and he pulls Higbee's left arm down.

I'm not trying to pump up TH as some great TE, the jury is well out on that. But that was a fantastic play by the defender and I won't fault Higbee for a guy that executed a split second bangbang play perfectly.

Higbee and the football could have been covered with velcro and that ball was still coming out.

Here are some photos that hopefully illustrate why I disagree:

Higbee had a chance to catch it before the defender got his hand in and yanked on Higbee's hand, but Higbee didn't catch it cleanly. If he had, I think he could have held on through the contact. I'm not saying it's an easy play, but it's a play we need our TE to make.

Look at Woods. He had to make the same sort of catch on the play where Goff threw it to him deep on the run. He made the grab. That's the difference between the 2016 and 2017 Rams. Our WRs and TEs have been making the tough catches this year when their QB gave them a chance.

We can all agree that the throw from Goff was amazing-- exactly at the perfect spot.
Nice work jrry-- that top photo confirms to me what I saw during the game, which is that Higbee should have caught it. Defender made a nice play to swat it, but Higbee clearly had a split-second to make a clean catch and failed to do so. And yes, I think it is entirely relevant that fans give Higbee less slack on this play because he's shown unreliable hands so often before.
Lastly, Higbee's pained expression right after the play indicated to me that he knew he messed up.
It was a very close bang-bang play, and in the end it's subjective as to whether a different player would have successfully made that catch. But in my opinion, an NFL player with good hands would have and should have secured that perfect pass despite the defender swatting at the ball a split second later.

It was a great play by the DB but I thought st the time and still do that Higbee needs to pull that ball in, it did appear he had it in both hands, ya gotta hang on to it.
