Goff looked really good today.

Mcvay on center position.
(On competition at the center position)

“Certainly right now (C) John (Sullivan) has definitely taken a hold of that spot. He’s done a great job commanding up front, with the calls, with the communication. I think we feel very fortunate to have John, but you also want to continue to allow guys to develop. Just like on the previous question – whoever gives us the best ability to win games and play at a high level, is who we’re going to put out there. Right now, we feel like John has done that and it’s pretty clear.”

Mcvay doesn't give away very much when talking about positions.
But it sounds like we have a center.Great news.

Hearing Andrew Whittworth speak inspires confidence. You can tell that he is comfortable in his skin and isn't a cliche machine. He may be the best addition and stablizing influence for PREVIOUSLY SHAKY offense/line. Before pads (must be the caviat for every comment), this team invigorates my excitement for the coming season!

I am confident that we have our guy in Goff. The talent has never been in doubt for me. It's clear that the work ethic and leadership skills are there. I don't care about the media narrative. I firmly believe we have our franchise QB.

Why is that? If anything, I could understand if neither of the QBs were up to speed in a new scheme after one week of practice. This is good news IMO...

So last season doesn't lend itself to any doubts? It was all Fisher's fault?

Agree 100% here....Our new LT was worth every cent of that cap space in value to this offense. Ref your last sentence with our new veteran(damaged & repaired) center ...one would surely expect that this early in the season & before the actual hitting & HD action that Sullivan would look great...However in his case means nothing yet. If I were Aaron Kromer I would be planing & working heavy on the emergency plans @ CENTER.

I don't disagree with this.
That's why hiring a good O mind was so important.
Taking the long view with Goff.....the next two years not the first two games of next year....which is how the press report on Goff.

I'll take anything that's encouraging right now. I love hearing about Goff being a leader, and looking good in the process. Maybe I'm being a homer but I feel good about the Rams right now. I think we've got a bright future with McVay. I hope he sounds as good as he coaches. If that's the case, this ship is headed in the right direction.

My guess that the OL last season was clueless and got constantly "schooled" is confirmed by Saffold. Massive coaching failure to prepare the younger players and not having veterans to teach them about the "tricks of the trade"
Why would the younger players go to Saffold and not the OL coach? Saffold was the only vet, and it tells me that Boudreau was not up to his job. Which gives me hope the OL is fixable with good teaching and coaching.
